The Stars are set for The LEXington Theatre Company's "Concert With The Stars" 2018, presented by Variety Live at The Opera House, and sponsored by KentuckyOne Health. Tyler Hanes (Cats, On The Town, A Chorus Line, Hairspray), Jill Paice (An American in Paris, Matilda, The 39 Steps), Gabrielle Ruiz (If/Then, Evita, In The Heights, Television's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), and Lexington's own Colton Ryan (Dear Evan Hansen) are to headline the company's signature concert and announce their 2018 Summer Season. In celebration of the mission of The LEX, an ensemble of college students from top-notch music and theatre programs, as well as local talent will join the stars from Broadway. Colton Ryan appeared as one of The LEX's collegiate "Broadway Hopefuls" in the 2016 edition of "Concert With The Stars." He made his Broadway debut in the smash-hit Dear Evan Hansenlater that same year, and The LEX is thrilled to have him return as a Broadway veteran for this year's concert. Tickets are on sale now for the one-night-only performance on Saturday, January 6 at 8:00pm, at The Lexington Opera House.
With The Stars" is a cabaret-style concert of Broadway show tunes, interwoven with behind-the-scenes stories from the guest stars. The Broadway Stars of today are joined by the Broadway Hopefuls of tomorrow, in various numbers. This year's Hopefuls are both local actors and college students, and include Jessica Bayne (Univ. of Kentucky), Kurtis Bradley Brown (CCM), Bryn Purvis (CCM), Darian Sanders, Megan Valle (Wright State Univ.), andJoseph Wrightson. The titles of the company's two Summer Productions will be announced at With The Stars," as The LEX moves to its first multiple-production summer season in 2018.
The LEXington Theatre Company's mission is to combine "Today's Broadway Stars and Tomorrow's Broadway Hopefuls" to create first-rate, locally-produced, professional productions for Lexington and Central Kentucky. The non-profit theatre is heading into its fourth season, utilizing the historic Lexington Opera House. While creating top-notch professional theatre, the company also serves as a training ground and performance platform for up-and-coming collegiate talent. Their College Internship and High School Apprenticeship Programs offer further experience for aspiring young people to learn about all aspects of theatrical productions.
