The Barter Players will present "The Cat in the Hat" at Barter main stage April 30-May 25. There are 14 performances scheduled, including three Saturday performances. Tickets are $12. Group rates are available.
Millions of copies of "The Cat in the Hat" have been sold and in 1971, the animated classic brought the story to life on screen. This is the very first time The Barter Players will present the beloved classic live and onstage; directed by Susan Boulle.
"Kids love the wild imagination of Dr. Seuss and his sense of fun, and so do we. It's a perfect fit," said Katy Brown, artistic director of The Barter Players.
A special division of Barter Theatre, The Barter Players is an Acting Company dedicated to young audiences. Most performances are less than an hour in length. One of their biggest goals is to connect young people (and adults) with great stories through creative theatre that never talks down to anyone.
"Dr. Seuss is the epitome of all the elements of our mission. He is one of the most creative, most inclusive, most exciting storytellers that I can think of in all of literature," said Brown.
Next on the production calendar for this summer are "The Pied Piper of Hamelin" and "Cinderella." This fall, The Barter Players will present "Mother Goose: The Musical" and "Little House on the Prairie." "Twas the Night before Christmas" will be presented in December.
