Regional Call for Proposals Propels Imagine Greater Louisville 2020

Today, Fund for the Arts announced a regional call for arts and cultural proposals, made possible by the Jennifer Lawrence Arts Fund at the Fund for the Arts, to activate strategies and actions identified in Imagine Greater Louisville 2020: An Arts and Cultural Vision to Transform the Region. Launched in April 2017, the plan administered by Fund for the Arts provides a shared vision for the role arts, culture and creativity can play in growing the region while addressing vital community issues. Proposals of all sizes representing the rich diversity of the region are due by April 1, 2018 via http://imaginegreaterlou.org/regional-call-for-proposals/.

"Imagine Greater Louisville 2020 gives us the blueprint to ensure everyone across Greater Louisville can be positively impacted through a more creative, connected, educated and competitive community," said Christen Boone, Fund for the Arts President and CEO. "By leveraging the Jennifer Lawrence Arts Fund at the Fund for the Arts, we can now meaningfully put this plan to work for our neighbors across the river and in surrounding Kentucky counties."

Projects must take place in one of the following counties. In Kentucky: Bullitt, Henry, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer and Trimble. In Indiana: Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Scott and Washington. Individuals, groups, organizations and partnerships are encouraged to submit creative proposals addressing how arts and culture can help the region grow, compete, thrive and solve community problems.

Proposed projects should be ready to begin by July 2018; provide services in one of the regional counties as described above; address at least one strategy and action outlined in the Imagine Greater Louisville 2020 plan; contain methods to track success.

In fall of 2017, Fund for the Arts announced a public-private partnership that invested $250,000 by Louisville Metro Council and Metro Louisville with an additional $250,000 from the Jennifer Lawrence Arts Fund at the Fund for the Arts to carry out the vision and priorities of Imagine Greater Louisville. The initial round of funding supported twenty-four projects now underway within Jefferson County. Today's regional call for proposals specifically utilizes funds from the Jennifer Lawrence Arts Fund at the Fund for the Arts. A total of $50,000 is available to support regional projects.

Imagine Greater Louisville 2020 is a call to action to leverage the region's creative resources to realize the full potential of its creative, prosperous future together. The community-based plan was created under the leadership of a cross-sector, 28-person steering committee that engaged 5,000+ community members through public meetings, interviews, surveys and more.
