Pandora Productions 2011-2012 Season bows Thursday evening, September 8, with A MAN OF NO IMPORTANCE, a tender and beautifully woven tale of love, friendship and coming to terms with one's identity.

Set in 1964 Dublin, A MAN OF NO IMPORTANCE is the story of Alfie Byrne, a middle-aged bachelor who lives a quiet life with his spinster sister, his days spent as a bus conductor and his nights as a community theater impresario. His greatest satisfaction has always been his role as the artistic director of the St. Imelda's Players, an amateur theatrical group housed in the local church. When Alfie declares that instead of their usual production of The Importance of Being Earnest the troupe instead will present Oscar Wilde's provocative Salome, the church authorities balk and his safe little world begins to crumble.

A MAN OF NO IMPORTANCE is the winner of the 2003 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical and the second work by the Tony Award winners of RAGTIME. Music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and book by Terrence McNally. The cast includes Pandora Productions' Artistic Director, Michael J. Drury, making a long-awaited return to the stage in the lead as Alfie Byrne, Jason Brent Button as Robbie, Laura Ellis as Adele Rice, Rusty Henle as Baldy, Michael Mayes as Breton Beret, Obadiah Ewing-Roush as Carney, Josh Richard as Ernie Lally, Bob Zielinski as Father Kenny, Tiffany Taylor as Lilly Byrne, Kristy Calman as Miss Crow, Betty Zielinski as Mrs. Curtin, Chris Cook as Mrs. Grace, Meg Caudill as Mrs. Patrick, Patrick Brophy as Oscar Wilde, Daniel Cooper as Rasher Flynn, and Anthony Ransom as Sully O'Hara. Also with Amos Dreisbach and Blair Boyd.

This compelling musical drama will be presented at the Victor Jory Theatre at Actors Theatre, 316 W. Main St., Downtown Louisville, September 8 - 18, 2011. Running time is approximately two hours with intermission. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m., with one matinee on Saturday, September 17 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets for the entire five show season subscription package are still available through the run of this production for $75.
