Country singer Kaitlyn Baker will return to Lexington, Kentucky, for a performance on "Red Barn Radio" on Wednesday, October 12. The weekly radio program features concerts performed in front of an audience at The Performance Hall at Arts Place.

Baker, who has been called a new "coal miner's daughter," was named one of Country Music's 15 Brightest Rising Stars by the pop culture website BuzzFeed. Her single "To Pieces" was recently released to radio. The video can be seen here..

Baker has performed on the nationally syndicated public television concert series "Song of the Mountains." This past summer, she appeared at Country Jam Colorado, where she performed following Brad Paisley. Other recent performances have included Kansas City, Denver, Oklahoma City, Nashville. She also recently at the Ultimate Outdoor Expo and and at Austin City Saloon in Lexington.

"I am looking forward to visiting Red Barn Radio," Baker said. "I like how they interview artists between songs, so you really get to know the people behind the music, and what inspired certain songs. Most of my songs are based on true stories or people I have known."

Baker hails from a coal mining family in Wise County, Virginia, near the Kentucky border. She has been performing professionally since she was a young girl, primarily at fairs and festivals near her home, but she has recently started to attract national attention as a result of her work in Nashville.

Baker's debut single "Burn" reached #54 on the MusicRow Breakout Chart. Previously, her song "Coal Train" was included in the 2015 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards ZinePak, a 2-CD album that also included songs by superstars like Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan and others. Meanwhile, her single "Heart of Appalachia," which came out last spring, has been designated the official theme song for tourism in Virginia's Heart of Appalachia region. See it here..
