The LEXington Theatre Company has announced that Laura Bell Bundy (TONY Nominee - Legally Blonde, Hairspray, Television's Fuller House, Anger Management), Leslie Kritzer (Something Rotten, A Catered Affair, Legally Blonde, Hairspray), Krysta Rodriguez (Spring Awakening, The Addams Family, First Date, Television's Smash) and Matthew Scott (An American in Paris, Jersey Boys, A Catered Affair, Sondheim on Sondheim) will be joining this year's line-up of Broadway Vets for "Concert With The Stars," on Sunday, January 8 at 3:00pm, at The Lexington Opera House (Lexington, KY.)
"Concert With The Stars" illustrates The LEXington Theatre Company's mission of combining "Today's Broadway Stars and Tomorrow's Broadway Hopefuls" to create first-rate, locally-produced, professional productions for Lexington and Central Kentucky. While creating top-notch professional theatre, the company also serves as a training ground and performance platform for up-and-coming collegiate talent. This year's Featured Collegiate Ensemble of "Concert With The Stars" includes Audrey Belle Adams (University of Kentucky), Tyler Jent (University of Cincinnati - CCM), Brianna Latrash (University of Cincinnati - CCM), Kimberly Pine (University of Cincinnati - CCM), and Aaron Robinson (University of Michigan).
The Broadway vets will perform sets of their musical theatre favorites, while the college students will present one solo piece. The students also get to perform with the stars on at least one tune. The title of the 2017 LEX Summer Production will be announced as the final number of the show.
"Concert With The Stars" is a one-performance-only event on Sunday, January 8 at 3:00pm, at The Lexington Opera House. ABOUT THE PERFORMERS:
Laura Bell Bundy made her professional debut at age 9, in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Since then, she has originated the roles of "Tina Denmark" in Ruthless The Musical, "Amber Von Tussle" in Hairspray, "Elle Woods" in Legally Blonde, and took a turn as "Glinda" in the smash hit Wicked. She has earned numerous nominations for her performances, including a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical, an Outer Critics Circle nominations, and Drama Desk nominations. Laura Bell also appeared on television as "Marah" on Guiding Light, "Becky" on How I Met Your Mother, "Shelby" on Hart of Dixie, " Ginger" on Fuller House and her leading role as "Dr. Jordan Denby" on Anger Management opposite Charlie Sheen, and many more. Laura Bell's film work includes Dream Girls, Jumanji, Life with Mikey, The Adventures of Huck Finn, Home Is Where The Heart Is, After The Reality, Beauty Mark, CMT's To The Mat, Hallmark's Dear Dumb Diary, Up's Season's Greetings, and Lifetime's Becoming Santa. Her 2010 album on Universal Records, Achin' and Shakin' debuted as Top #5 albums on The Billboard country music charts. Laura Bell penned all but one of the songs on the album. Her 2015 Big Machine album was released to rave reviews and her single "I Am What I Am" was Top 10 in Australia's Country Music Charts and was heavily rotated on CMT. Laura Bell wrote, directed and produced all four of the music videos for this album.
Leslie Kritzer a Cincinnati Conservatory of Music graduate, comes straight from Broadway where she is starring as Bea in Something Rotten. She made her Broadway debut in Hairspray, following that she was Serena in Legally Blonde, winning the Actor's Equity Clarence Derwent Award for most promising performer. She then starred in A Catered Affair earning her a Drama Desk nomination followed by Sondheim on Sondheim and ELF. Off-Broadway she was seen most recently in The Roundabout Theatre production of The Robber Bridegroom which earned her a Lucille Lortel as well as Drama League and Fred Astaire nominations. Other shows include: Piece of My Heart at The Signature Theatre, Nobody Loves You at Second Stage and The Memory Show at Transport Group as well as Rooms: A Rock Romance, (Outer Critics Circle nomination), The Great American Trailer Park Musical (Drama Desk nomination). Regionally she was in the world premiere of POP! (Yale Rep) directed by Mark Brokaw as well as Every Tongue Confess (Arena Stage) directed by Kenny Leon. As a writer, Leslie received a TimeOutNY Award for Leslie Kritzer Is Patti LuPone at Les Mouches, a re-creation of Patti LuPone's famed nightclub act, which had a sold-out run at Joe's Pub. Krysta Rodriguez is a Broadway performer who has also enjoyed an extensive career in film and television. She made her Broadway debut in the jukebox musical Good Vibrations. Next, she toured the country playing Faye in the musical The Boyfriend, directed by Julie Andrews. She then returned to Broadway in the original casts of both Spring Awakening and In the Heights. In addition, she played Bebe in the revival of A Chorus Line. Next, she originated the role of Wednesday Addams in the musical imagining of The Addams Family alongside Broadway legends Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth. Additionally she originated the co-headlining role in the new musical First Date alongside Zachary Levi. TV audiences may know her as the high-flying "Diva" Ana Vargas from NBC's Smash. Other TV appearances include guest starring on Inside ?Amy Schumer, Younger, Gossip Girl, Chasing Life and The Mysteries of Laura. Most recently she was thrilled to join the cast of Deaf West's production of Spring Awakening, which combined deaf and hearing actors performing in English and ASL simultaneously. She continued with that production for its critically acclaimed and Tony nominated Broadway run. Next, Krysta can be seen on the upcoming NBC comedy "Trial And Error" starring John Lithgow.
Matthew Scott is fresh off his run as Adam Hochberg in An American In Paris on Broadway. Other Broadway credits include Sondheim On Sondheim starring Barbara Cook and Vanessa Williams, A Catered Affair, Jersey Boys and The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas (Actors' Fund). His Regional credits include The Light In The Piazza at the Philadelphia Theatre Company, for which he won the Barrymore Award for Best Supporting Actor; Beaches, Company, ACE and Side By Side By Sondheim (all Signature Theatre); Chaplin (La Jolla Playhouse); A Wonderful Life (Goodspeed Opera House); Eden and Unknown Soldier (The O'Neill Theatre Center); Ragtime, My Fair Lady and Carousel (all Paper Mill Playhouse); West Side Story (The Muny); Legally Blonde, Swing!, Les Miserables and Sunset Boulevard opposite Liz Callaway (all Pittsburgh CLO).
