Kentucky Shakespeare will showcase its live two-person performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" for young audiences, which is currently touring Elementary, Middle and High Schools throughout Kentucky and surrounding States, from November 5 through December 17, 2016.
"This is the second time we've had the opportunity to tour the entire Louisville Free Public Library system in one season," said Producing Artistic Director Matt Wallace. "Thanks to the generosity of Metro Louisville, we are able to offer this free, interactive, one-hour performance at all 18 libraries."
"The Louisville Free Public Library has been a tremendous partner with us over the years and we couldn't be more excited to see this continue," said Director of Education Kyle Ware. "Our goal of serving our community with an emphasis on accessibility regardless of socio-economic or geographic factors-makes the Shakespeare in the Libraries tour a perfect collaboration."
The production showcases two professional actors performing a creative take on Shakespeare by incorporating masks, puppetry, and imagination.
This is an interactive, creative performance where the audience will have the opportunity to engage with professional actors through participation during the performance as well as the opportunity to ask questions. The performances are structured to focus on the importance of conflict resolution, healthy relationships and self-esteem. The programing is suitable for all ages.
The Shakespeare in the Libraries Tour is made possible by a grant from Metro Louisville.
