Kentucky Shakespeare announces the 2019 SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARKS tour. Their 6-actor, 90-minute production of MACBETH will tour to 28 parks in Louisville, Indiana, and other Kentucky cities this spring, bringing free Shakespeare to neighborhoods April 6-May 25, 2019.

"We couldn't be happier to be able to serve so many parks and neighborhoods with this tour. In 2014 we started with nine parks and this spring we'll triple that number! This season, we branch out even further, bringing free Shakespeare in the Parks to Mt. Washington in Bullitt County and Bowling Green plus serving some local neighborhoods for the first time including Smoketown and Klondike Park. We'll again have backup rain spaces for each location too, so you can join us rain or shine. We're grateful for the opportunity to bring this special free family event to neighborhoods

across the area!" says Producing Artistic Director Matt Wallace.

The production is directed by Amy Attaway, Kentucky Shakespeare's Associate Artistic Director. "We're excited to share this accessible new adaptation of Shakespeare's popular tragedy following a couple broken by their unchecked ambition and quest for power." She added, "Simply put, none of this would be possible without the neighborhood sponsors of this tour. Thank you to the twenty Louisville Metro Council members who've sponsored performances in their districts,

plus White Clay, Locust Grove, Norton Commons, the Tyler Park Neighborhood Association, the Mayors and cities of Lyndon, New Albany, Jeffersonville, St. Matthews, La Grange, Shively, Mt. Washington, Pewee Valley and Jeffersontown."

The production features an ensemble cast of six actors: Dathan Hooper as Macbeth, Megan Massie as Lady Macbeth, Zachary Burrell as Macduff, Owen Kresse as Duncan, Charity Means as Malcolm, and Mollie Murk as Banquo. All of the actors also play other multiple roles in the production. The production features costumes by Donna Lawrence-Downs, sound design by Laura Ellis, fight choreography by Eric Frantz, and set design by Hannah Allgeier, with Racheal Luther as the stage manager.

Audience members are invited to bring their own chairs, blankets, and picnics for this free, family-friendly community event.

Kentucky Shakespeare will also tour the production to schools across the state as part of Shakespeare in American Communities, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. Kentucky Shakespeare is one of 40 professional theater companies selected to participate in bringing the finest productions of Shakespeare to middle- and high-school students in communities across the United States.
