Artistic Director Tony Prince and Producing Director Richard McGrew are delighted to announce the 2015 - 2016 season of The Liminal Playhouse.

The Liminal Playhouse's inaugural production will be "Christmas on Mars" by Harry Kondoleon running tonight, September 3, through September 13, 2015. Artistic Director Tony Prince will direct this dark comedy that explores the desperation we all feel for love, connection and a sense of being needed.

Prince says, "I am very excited to be directing a Kondoleon play again, having directed two of his works previously for The Necessary Theatre. Few playwrights can send audiences on the kind of emotional wild ride he does."

The technical staff includes set designer Eric Allgeier, lighting designer Keith Kimmel and costumer Shane Estes. The cast is Jon Patrick O'Brien, Victoria Reibel, Michael Roberts and Susan Linville.

The second show will be Sarah Ruhl's first play "Melancholy Play: A Contemporary Farce" running March 24 through April 3, 2016. Tad Chitwood will direct this play which brilliantly combines absurdism, farce, music...and almonds. It is a unique vision of love, attraction, melancholy and transformation.

Richard McGrew has composed an original score for this production. The cast is Brian Hinds, Mera Kathryn Corlett, Tony Prince, Laura Ellis, Teresa Willis and Richard McGrew.

The production will run concurrently with ATL's Humana Festival of New American plays, which will feature the world premiere of Sarah Ruhl's new play, "For Peter Pan on her 70th birthday."

McGrew says, "We are thrilled to be giving Louisville audiences a rare opportunity to see Ruhl's first play at the same time that they can see the most recent work of this gifted playwright."

Prince adds, "Taken together, these two plays which comprise our first season should give audiences a good sense of why our mission statement is 'The Liminal Playhouse embraces, explores and celebrates the ambiguous, and sometimes paradoxical, nature of our shared humanity.'"

All performances will be at The Henry Clay Theatre, 604 South Third Street, Louisville, KY 40202. Season subscriptions and individual tickets are available online at TheLiminalPlayhouse.org or by calling 502-553-8056.
