A. LINCOLN: A PIONEER TALE Continues Through 6/29 at Lincoln Amphitheatre

The second season for the outdoor musical drama about Lincoln's Indiana years will run until Saturday, June 29. The two-act musical play written and directed by Northern Kentucky University's resident playwright Ken Jones, A. Lincoln: A Pioneer Tale takes audiences on a journey through Lincoln's Indiana pioneer days and how his years in Indiana shaped the man that became the 16th president.

Jones hopes audiences not only will enjoy the theatrical spectacle of the large dance and choral numbers, but walk away with a sense of joy and pride that a young pioneer boy could grow up to be one of the greatest leaders of all time.

"Our 16th President was homegrown in Indiana. I feel that we all know a lot about the President Lincoln, the civil war leader... but there are so many stories of the boy. I learned so many things about Abe's friends and family, and I believe that those friends and family sculpted this great leader," Jones said.

The 1500-seat, covered Lincoln Amphitheatre is located inside Lincoln State Park and on the grounds President Lincoln walked as a boy growing up in southern Indiana from the ages of seven to 21 years old. He received his less than one year of formal education in Indiana, studied by candlelight, and lost his mother, Nancy Hanks to milk sickness and his sister, Sarah Lincoln Grigsby in childbirth.

A.Lincoln: A Pioneer Tale, the two-act musical play enhanced by an original score of ten songs, took the 1500-seat, covered Lincoln Amphitheatre's stage on June 7 and continues to run Wednesday to Saturdays evenings beginning at 7:30 p.m. CDT with one matinee remaining on Wednesday, June 26 at 2 p.m. CDT.

Ticket prices are $19 for adults; $16 for seniors ages 55 and older, students ages seven to 21, and military; and $6 for children ages six and under. An optional dinner service is available for an additional cost to guests who make reservations at least three days in advance.
