A Special One-Night-Only ONLINE livestream Performance!
Proceeds go to support the Playhouse as their doors remain closed due to COVID-19. Kosher meets Cornbread, Blues and Rock 'n' Roll in Memphis singer-songwriter Shelley Fisher’s critically acclaimed solo musical play THE HEBREW HILLBILLY®: Fifty Shades of Oy Vey! This universally appealing hip rite of passage chronicles Fisher's Hollywood Odyssey that begins in the heart of the Mississippi Delta in Memphis, Tennessee. The story follows Fisher's life as a good little Jewish girl with big star struck fantasies whose quest for fame and fortune takes her to Los Angeles where she ultimately finds purpose beyond The Hollywood Sign. Pulsating with 15 original Memphis inspired songs written by Shelley and hit songwriters Ken Hirsch and Harold Payne, THE HEBREW HILLBILLY gives us a poignant and hilarious look into the unique world of Kosher Pork, Jew-B-Cues, Redneck anti-semitism, ELVIS and the Power of Dreams! One night only to benefit Santa Monica Playhouse.
