"The Door To America" by Carol Weiss, is a musical story of immigrants. This is the story of an adventure. After all, what could be a greater adventure than picking up all you own and moving to a land 3,000 miles away - a place impossible to believe – streets paved with gold and freedom!
Yossel the tailor brings his wife to America hoping they’ll succeed, but, like thousands of others, he works in a sweatshop. He tries to start his own shop, gets laughed at by bankers, fights with the very union he helped create, and almost loses his business and his wife.
He struggles but his road to success create a musical event, alternately touching, triumphant, and joyous.
