Jonathan Heyward illuminates a night of enchanting French music, starting with Lili Boulanger’s vibrant evocation of a spring morning and ending with Berlioz’ radical fantasy about an artist consumed by love, passion… and opium-induced fever dreams. French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet joins the orchestra for Ravel’s Concerto in G, which offers a depth of emotion and feeling beneath its light-hearted and glittering surface.
