Ensemble Studio Theatre/Los Angeles presents "Pigs and Chickens”
A New Play by Marek Glinski and directed by Kevin Comartin
While working at a chaotic tech startup, a woman tries to overcome her hellish anger management problem and get along with her buggy coworkers, human and otherwise. Marek Glinski breathes humor into the perils of individuals coexisting with technology.
Writer Marek Glinski recalls, “Pigs and Chickens started out as a dig against my one time day job, writing technical documentation for a startup in its chaotic early days. Mocking the wonky rituals and quirks of an engineering team, that seemed to speak only in acronyms, was fun! But the more I poked, the more I remembered the personal connections I had made at the office. But,couldn’t resist the irony that there were these people having sticky, messy, human transactions while building “solutions” that compensated for human messiness.
Playwright Marek Glinski developed Pigs & Chickens with the EST/LA Playwrights Unit and through its 2017 Fuel workshop. He collaborated on EST/LA’s late-night sci-fi soap opera In Search of DOG in 2014, and workshopped his play Mammoth Gorge there in 2009. Other plays include This Little Piggy with Darkhorse Theatre in New York, Saint Barbara at the National Showcase of New Plays - Stanford University; Utah, a semi-finalist for the Actors Theatre of Louisville Humana Festival 2001 Heideman Award, presented at the 2001 Turnip Festival in New York City; and The Devil’s Sonata, winner of the 2001 Illinois Arts Council Fellowship for Dramatic Writing, performed at Chicago’s Visions and Voices Theatre.
Kevin Comartin directed the world premiere of the Ovation and Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle award nominated WET: A DACAmented Journey, written and performed by Alex Alpharoah. He hosts The Kitchen Sink Variety Show, a monthly comedy show, and heads up the New West Playwrights group at EST/LA. Kevin is the producer for numerous digital shorts and web series, and he frequently collaborates with Worst Person Productions.
