This month NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) celebrates women behind the camera with an evening of films by female directors.
The night kicks off with shorts program InFocus: Female Cinema – Fighting the Good Fight, which offers stories of the struggle against the conditions that suppress us, as well as the assertion of the positive and its power to inspire us.
The evening’s centerpiece feature film is the Los Angeles premiere of award-winning director Pearl Gluck’s The Turn Out, a striking look at sex trafficking at truck stops through the eyes of a truck driver who regularly witnesses its realities and feels compelled to help the victims. Pearl Gluck’s documentary background rigorously informs the world of this narrative film with documentary elements.
The night concludes with shorts program InFocus: Female Cinema – Unlikely Allies, a collection of chance meetings, circumstances and situations that bring about unexpected collaboration.
Throughout the event, attendees will have opportunities to mingle with the filmmakers, industry supporters and film lovers over complimentary drinks & cocktails in the premium reception room at the South Park Center in Downtown Los Angeles.
Tickets are only $10 for single film programs and $15 for all films with open bar for 7+ hours! Get them now before it is too late!
