The Group Rep presents the World Premiere of NORMAL NOISES 6 Short Plays written and directed by Clara Rodriguez, produced by Brooklyn Sample and Heidi Mendez for the Group Rep. These short funny plays are about life - - but not just about the big things in life. Sometimes its about the little things that make you want to get out of bed in the morning, or maybe stay in bed, or maybe do both at the same time. Cast features the talents of Melissa Bontempt, Cynthia Bryant, Cheryl Crosland, Michael Gabiano, Sheena Georges, Pascal Gigon, Cecil Jennings, Melissa Kaye, Mareli Mitchel-Shields, Lloyd Pedersen, Alec Reusch, Steve Shaw, Neil Thompson, Sascha Vanderslik. Barbara Brownell and Alyssa Rae are understudies.

x (they/themme; ze/hir; fae/faer) is a TRANSdisciplinary artist who offers a conceptual and anti-modern approach to movement-driven performance. x has shared short films, installations, and dance works in Budapest, HU; Detroit, MI; Ithaca, NY; and NYC. Selected accomplishments include: Creatives Rebuild New York (Artist Employment Program), AXIS Choreo-Lab Fellow, GALLIM Moving Artist Residency, Bronx Cultural Visions Fund (Bronx Council on the Arts), City Artist Corps grant, LiftOff Residency (New Dance Alliance), Disability. Dance. Artistry. Dance. Residency Program (Dance/NYC, Gibney). high functioning x.0 is their first full length solo show.


Creative Team

Daphny

Props Coordinator/Scenic Head
Daphny (pronouns: They/Them) is a gender-nonconforming, Afro-Latiné Descendant of the Taino and Awarawak people, and a multidisciplinary artist. They started working in theater arts this year, closely working with the costume designer on Misdemeanor Dreams. They quickly realized that their specialty in ceramics and 3D projects can work well in a props dept. Daph works as an art teacher during the week and finds inspiration through the kids they teach. This is their first debut as Props Coordinator on a production and are excited to showcase their passions through art.


jo kwon

Costume Designer
Jo Kwon is a costume designer and visual artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Their work and research draw from pop culture, fine art, DIY, and couture. As a visual artist, Jo regards the treatment of textiles as a body that carries memory. They explore the excitement of childhood play through color and form within hfx.0, indulging in its joy and humor. Jo's work has been shown at COPE NYC, Soft Surplus, and at events within their community. In their free time, they enjoy psychological thrillers and mysteries.


Charlie Fischetti

Photographer/Videographer
Charlie Fischetti (they/he/she) is a genderfluid multi-disciplinary artist based in NYC. His mediums include photo/video, poetry, and drag performance. Their passions lie in the intersections between humans and nature, sexuality and gender expansion, horror as a site of reclamation and liberation, and transformative justice. She has worked in arts nonprofits, education, and outreach/community organizing. He is so excited to be working with x to support this project through video and photo documentation and engaging with its multimedia storytelling elements.
