Valentine’s Day Comes Early from Musical Theatre Guild with a Celebration of Love: “It’s Complicated…”
Fundraiser to support MTG’s Student Outreach Programs!
Musical Theatre Guild gets an early start on Valentine’s Day with a brand-new concert fundraiser. IT’S COMPLICATED… AN EVENING OF SONGS ABOUT LOVE (the Good, the Bad and the Messy) is a musical examination of love and connection. Joyful, passionate, comedic, and sometimes awkward, we celebrate love in all its glory through songs from musicals and song cycles, performed by an all-star array of over two dozen Guild members. IT’S COMPLICATED… will take place for one night only: Wednesday, February 12th, 2005, 8:30 PM, at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood, CA.
“We are exploring all of the facets of romantic love, which is such a complex experience. As we all know, love can be both a profound source of joy and laughter as well as a challenge that tests resilience, communication, and trust. Whether it’s the butterfly sensation of infatuation, the quiet times, the depth of long-term relationships, the silly moments, or the devastation of grief and loss, romantic love touches every aspect of human connection, transforming lives in its wake.” says Guild member Wendy Rosoff, Creator and Director of IT’S COMPLICATED…“And in MTG fashion, the songs performed will be a mix of classics and less-familiar choices, all from the musical theatre canon. Just as our audiences have come to expect from us! The Catalina Jazz Club will provide the perfect relaxed setting for an evening of songs about love, just in time for Valentine’s Day!”
Joining Rosoff on the artistic staff is Musical Director Anthony Zediker. Leesa Freed will stage manage, and Susan Edwards Martin & Will Collyer serve as Producers. Guild performers scheduled to appear include Eileen Barnett, Anastasia Barzee, Roger Befeler, Jennifer Bennett, Teri Bibb, Yvette Bishop, Will Collyer, Matthew Patrick Davis, Tal Fox, Kim Huber, Maura M. Knowles, Melissa Lyons, Susan Edwards Martin, Kevin Matsumoto, Tonoccus McClain, Kevin McMahon, Dana Meller, Barbara Minkus, Ashley Moniz, Kyle Montgomery, Chelsea Morgan Stock, Gabriel Navarro, Lisa Picotte, Wendy Rosoff, Mary VanArsdel, Diane Vincent, Shannon Warne, Paul Wong, Robert Yacko, and David Zack.
Proceeds from IT’S COMPLICATED… go to support Musical Theatre Guild’s Youth Outreach Programs, a cornerstone of the organization’s mandate to engage the next generation of theatre artists and theatregoers. The Guild’s Youth Outreach Program takes specially prepared live performances into Southern California schools, brings hundreds of local high school students to live theatre performances, and offers mentorships to theatre students who shadow our professionals behind the scenes of mainstage productions. Musical Theatre Guild is committed to inspiring and developing the next generations of theatre artists and audiences. In addition, Musical Theatre Guild’s fundraising efforts help provide ASL access for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing patrons at its mainstage productions.
IT'S COMPLICATED…is the perfect way to start your Valentine’s Day celebration, with a unique spin that only Musical Theatre Guild can provide! Enjoy dinner, drinks, and the best of Broadway, performed by the finest musical theatre performers in Southern California.
