Bob Baker created ¡FIESTA! more than fifty years ago as a “love letter to Latin America,” taking inspiration from his neighbors, as well as from his majority-Latine team of puppeteers in Los Angeles. Our 2023 presentation of ¡FIESTA! reflects a variety of voices, cultures, and traditions, and revitalizes this classic show for a new generation.
¡FIESTA! features a marionette lineup of dancing cacti and colorful birds, marimba maestros from Xochimilco, a brand new Día de Muertos sequence, and a newly outfitted marionette mariachi band inspired by Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Ángeles! (... Plus some brand-new surprises we built in our workshop since the last run!)
¡FIESTA! is a mood we set before you—we hope you take a little of it home with you in your hearts. Enjoy a new celebration of our community.
