Join us on Mother's Day, May 8th, 2022 as Westside Ballet of Santa Monica's Spring Performances pay tribute to the life-renewing qualities of spring with a demonstration of how the ballet world is resiliently re-emerging: experiencing artistic growth and renewed energycreatively blossoming with new visions, ideas, and experiences. The company successfully weathered the pandemic by launching a Crisis Relief Campaign, 1500 Angels. The 214k dollars they raised helped them survive; now begins their season to thrive with reimagined repertoires. Westsides New Horizons'' presentation will delight Los Angeles audiences with wonderfully varied worksfrom the most classic choreographers and composers to an original contemporary piece with a commissioned score.Due to popular demand, Westside Alumnus Adrian Blake Mitchell and his partner, Slovakian Andrea Lakov, are now performing on Sunday. Samuel Barbers mournful, yet serene, Adagio for Strings comes to life in a stirring pas de deux by Oleg Vinogradov performed by guest artists Mr. Mitchell and Ms. Lakov. With a starry backdrop, the dancers illustrate the music through exquisite intertwining movements. (The two are also performing this piece and others, the night before for Westside Ballets A Petite Soire.) Great traditions never fade, but as ballet audiences evolve, so too must the artform coveted worldwide for hundreds of years, says Martine Harley, Westside Ballet of Santa Monicas Artistic Director since 2013.When: Saturday, May 7, 2022, 6 pm: A Petite Soire reception and awards, followed by the 7:30 pm New Horizons with special guest performances; May 8, 2022, 2 pm: Limited Engagement Live Performances for two shows only, Mothers Day Weekend.TICKETS: SATURDAY Soire $75SUNDAY New Horizons $451-800-595-4849 (4TIX)westsideballet.com/SpringTixSpecial Group Rates Available for Groups of 15 or More.
