The award-winning British short film Angel Fleet will be featured in the upcoming Shorts by the Sea screening event in Santa Monica, California.
Filmed on location around West Sussex in the UK, Angel Fleet tells the poignant story of a lost aviator, and the grief felt by his family in the aftermath of his loss. It has been warmly received by audiences worldwide after screening in locations as diverse as Australia, Brazil, and Switzerland.
The cast and crew have also been recognized by a raft of prestigious film festivals, with accolades including the Best Score - Short Film award at LA’s Golden State Film Festival. Angel Fleet was also named Best Indie Film at the Touchstone Independent Film Festival, where Millie Lewis won the Best Supporting Actress award.
Returning to the USA for its theatrical release, Angel Fleet will play for seven days at Shorts by the Sea. Screenings will count towards the aviation short’s Academy Awards qualification.
Now in its sixth year, Shorts by the Sea brings together a diverse collection of documentaries, animations, and live-action films. This year’s event takes place September 13 -19 at Monica Film Centre (1332 2nd Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401).
Angel Fleet was produced by the award-winning Sussex production company Fact Not Fiction Films and directed by Tristan Loraine. Herb Jackson Jr. served as Executive Producer, while the cast includes Darcey Jacobs, Millie Lewis, Jessica Hilliard, and Shaun Morton.
Herb Jackson Jr. commented, “We are thrilled to announce that Angel Fleet has been selected to be a part of Shorts by the Sea and will be screened during its 7-day run. This achievement means that our original goal of making the film Academy eligible has been realized. Exciting times ahead!”
