Tony Award nominee, and winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award (Best Solo Performance 2015), Orson Bean, returns to Pacific Resident Theatre in the world premiere of “Alright Then,” co-starring Alley Mills. The new production, January 27 – March 25, 2018, is being directed by Guillermo Cienfuegos (Ovation Award and Los Angeles Drama Critic’s Circle Award for Best Director), and was inspired by Bean’s multi-award winning companion piece SAFE AT HOME: An Evening with Orson Bean. As one of America’s best-known raconteurs, and an undisputed triple threat, Orson Bean has entertained several generations of audiences in all forms of media. In his latest comical and genuine extravaganza, he and Alley Mills recount a magical but unlikely meeting that changed the course of their lives forever. A funny, vivid, and synchronistic journey about two artists who beat the odds in the world of entertainment, love…and marriage.

“Alright Then” opens at 8pm on January 27th and runs Thursdays – Saturdays at 8pm, and on Sundays at 3pm through March 25, 2018. Guillermo Cienfuegos (Critics Choice – LA Times for PRT’s Rhinoceros; The Homecoming and Henry V – Critics Choice – LA Times; Ovation Award, and Los Angeles Drama Critic’s Circle Award for Best Director) helmed Orson’s 2015/16 multi-award-winning production, Safe at Home: An Evening With Orson Bean, and now returns at the helm for Alright Then. One of Los Angeles’ top directors (Stage Raw award-winning Dutch Masters at Rogue Machine Theatre; 3 Ovation Awards including Best Production) his productions have appeared on KCRW’s, and numerous other, ‘Best of the Year’ lists. In addition, Cienfuegos has directed eight World Premieres for Pacific Resident Theatre, including Keith Stevenson’s Ovation-Award-nominated Out There on Fried Meat Ridge Road (recently TOP TEN list for London’s West End), A Fried Meat Christmas, and The Unfryable Meatness of Being; in addition, My Girlfriend is an Alien by Keith DeFacto (LA Weekly and Stage Raw Recommended). After a successful run at PRT, his production of Vince Melocchi’s Julia (nominated for 3 LA Weekly Awards, including Best Director) transferred to New York’s 59E59 Theatre, Off Broadway. Lions, his first collaboration with Melocchi, was nominated for an Ovation Award and later published by Samuel French.

Orson Bean starred on Broadway for twenty years, winning a Theater World Award and garnering a Tony Award nomination; Best Featured Actor in a Musical. His stage career includes starring roles in the Broadway production of Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? (Walter Matthau and Jayne Mansfield), Never Too Late, and Illya Darling. Most recently, he garnered the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award - Best Solo Performance – for his work at PRT in Safe at Home: An Evening with Orson Bean. Orson received a SAG Award nomination for his performance in the film “Being John Malkovich.” Orson is part of a generation that created the foundation for Broadway and Hollywood as it is today. As a comic, he appeared over 200 times on The Tonight Show, approximately one hundred times as substitute host. As a guest star, he was seen on To Tell The Truth for eight years. Bean has appeared in TV cult favorites Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman and Forever Fernwood. For seven years, he portrayed the storekeeper, Loren Bray, on the popular western drama, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. Orson recently appeared on Modern Family and played Roy Bender, Karen McCluskey’s husband on the three final seasons of Desperate Housewives. His new film “Equalizer II” starring Denzel Washington will be released later this year.

Alley Mills is best know for her six year run as Norma Arnold on The Wonder Years, however she has starred in a dozen other series and numerous TV films. On the big screen Alley played the lead, opposite John Candy, in the movie “Going Berserk.” Her first professional appearance was in a Joe Papp New York Shakespeare Festival production. She then embarked on a national tour as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet. On the west coast she has worked at the Mark Taper Forum and the American Conservatory Theater among others. She is a 20-year member of PRT. Currently she is a regular cast member of CBS daytime series The Bold and the Beautiful. She is a magna-cum-laude graduate of the first class of women at Yale and earned an M.A. at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.
