The comic performance piece all wear bowlers will play the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego from August 1 - September 3, 2006 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre.  Press night is Wednesday, August 9 at 7:30pm.

Created and performed by Geoff Sobelle and Trey Lyford, "all wear bowlers combines silent film comedy with a modern multi-media performance concept into a piece that is at the same time riotously funny and poignant," according to notes on the show.

"Under the direction of Aleksandra Wolska, Sobelle and Lyford play two silver screen clowns who literally break through the fourth wall of their silent movie to come crashing into an audience-filled theatre. There the two find themselves trapped in a live clown show, and in an attempt to escape it, they employ all the tricks of their trade, deftly moving between the stage, screen and audience with impeccable timing and inventive clowning. Caught in an existential nightmare, the two clowns lose all sense of time, space and self in a blaze of eggshells and footlights.  In the tradition of Buster Keaton and Laurel and Hardy - with a smattering of Samuel Beckett - all wear bowlers brims with sheer entertainment, vaudevillian silliness and stunning athleticism."

"To have all wear bowlers as part of our season is thrilling to me because it encompasses the Playhouse ideal of paying homage to the past while simultaneously representing the very essence of modernity," says La Jolla Playhouse Artistic Director Des McAnuff. "This bowler-wearing duo represents the kind of young, groundbreaking team that reflects both a lineage of physical performance and a glimpse of the physical comedy and clowning yet to come."

Bon the films of Laurel and Hardy and was first workshopped at UCSD in 2000, all wear bowlers was rehearsed and further developed at New York's HERE Arts Center in 2003.  all wear bowlers had a workshop performance at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival to critical acclaim and standing-room only houses.  The show has since played internationally.
