YELLOW Extends At Coast Playhouse Thru 12/19, David Steen Joins The Cast

JD3atrical Productions is thrilled to announce that with this extension of YELLOW, Shores' favorite David Steen will be joining the cast as Bobby Westmoreland and now, his plays have appeared on LA stages for over eight collective years! The smash-hit, critically-acclaimed (LA Times CRITICS' CHOICE; LA Weekly GO!; Backstage CRITIC'S PICK) world premiere production of YELLOW, written and directed by Del Shores (The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife, Southern Baptist Sissies, Sordid Lives) and produced by Louise Beard, Emerson Collins, Jason Dottley and Del Shores is EXTENDING AGAIN, and will now be playing thru SUNDAY, DECEMBER 19 at the Coast Playhouse, 8325 Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood.

The first weekend of the new extension also marks the 7 year anniversary of Shores' marriage to Jason Dottley. They are legally married in California - two of the 18,000 who made the cut. As members of the Marriage Advisory Board and in light of what's happening with bullied gay youth, a portion of all proceeds from the three shows during the weekend of Oct 22-24 will be donated to the Trevor Project, Youth First Texas and the Matthew Shephard Foundation.

In 1984 Del Shores' first play Cheatin' opened in Hollywood. Since then, his seven world premiere plays have collectively run for over eight years on L.A. stages, and winning Shores, his casts and crews over 100 L.A. theatre awards: Los Angeles Drama Critic's Circle, Ovation, GLAAD, NAACP, LA Weekly and Backstage Garland. Worldwide, Shores' plays have been produced over 3,000 times. Two plays have become films, and one an internationally syndicated TV series. Yellow marks a pinnacle moment in Shores' career. Combining tones, his famous biting humor with his most sophisticated dramatic work to date, Shores has written arguably the most acclaimed original play to debut outside New York since Tony-winning August: Osage County.

YELLOW chronicles a year in the life of what seems to be the perfect family in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Kate Westmoreland (Kristen McCullough "Breathtaking performance" LA Weekly) is a respected therapist and her husband Bobby Westmoreland (David Steen Sordid Lives: The Series") is a high school football coach. They have two ambitious teenagers; Dayne (Luke McClure "Masterful performance" Backstage) is the golden child and football star, while Gracie (Evie Louise Thompson "Steals every scene she's in" Hollywood Reporter) is an aspiring actress who feels misunderstood at all times. Gracie's best friend Kendall (Matthew Scott Montgomery "handily walks off with the production" Variety) shares her affinity for the theatre which puts him at odds with his fundamentalist mother, Sister Timothea (Susan Leslie Glee/Mad Men "Riveting" Broadway World). As the play opens, all seems right in the Westmoreland household. Dayne prepares for the start of football season, and Gracie and Kendall audition to join the cast of the high school production of "Oklahoma." Everything quickly begins to fall apart when an unexpected tragedy rocks the solid foundation of the Westmoreland, testing faith in every sense of the word.

In 2009, Shores returned to performing when he toured his one-man show "Del Shores: My Sordid Life" in 34 cities and then segued into stand-up performances in hotspots like New York's Comix. Jason Dottley (Producer) is most known for starring in the internationally syndicated TV series Sordid Lives: The Series alongside Olivia Newon-John and Rue McClanahan, recently as a Top 20 Billboard recording artist, but for years under the radar as a producer. In 2009-2010, Jason produced and starred in the national tour of A Sordid Affair with Rue McClanahan, Caroline Rhea, Leslie Jordan and more of his Sordid Lives cast mates. Dottley produced Del Shores: My Sordid Life (Del Shores' one-man show) in over 30 cities in the US in the summer and fall of 2009 while touring for his record label and performing in the most famous nightclubs in America from Vegas to New York City.

In the fall of 2006, Dottley produced the national tours of Sordid Lives and Southern Baptist Sissies headlined by icon Delta Burke. In January of 2006, Dottley launched revivals of Shores' Sordid Lives, Southern Baptist Sissies, and The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife for which he was nominated for "Best Production" in the prestigious Ovation Awards. His new single "Hit Play" debuts September of 2010.

Emerson Collins (Producer) served as Vice-President of Development for Del Shores Productions and co-produced Sordid Lives: The Series for Viacom's LOGO network and IMG Worldwide syndication. He produced the New York City, Los Angeles and Palm Springs premieres of the series while co-starring onscreen as "Max". He produced the 2006 national tours of Sordid Lives and Southern Baptist Sissies and starred onstage in Sissies with Delta Burke as his mother. He has joined the production team for the ongoing national tour of A Sordid Affair, and he worked as associate producer on A Season of Shores, a retrospective of Del Shores' plays while producing a summer concert series featuring Levi Kreis of Broadway's Million Dollar Quartet and Top 5 Billboard recording artist Debby Holiday.

Louise H. Beard (Producer) An avid lover of theatre and entertainment, Louise most recently produced the 2009-2010 national tour of A Sordid Affair (starring Rue McClanahan, Leslie Jordan, Del Shores) and the Birmingham productions of Del Shores: My Sordid Life.

She is part of the investment teams behind Broadway's 2010 Tony-nominated Ragtime and Finian's Rainbow, as well as the up-coming Pee Wee Herman Show and Minsky's. Stepping into another world of entertainment Louise executive produced the Top 20 Billboard hit "Party Round the World" by artists Jason Dottley and Debby Holiday, as well as the upcoming "Hit Play" and "Pop It" by Jason Dottley.

ABOUT David Steen

David Steen (Bobby Westmoreland) began his writing career after spending his first six years in Los Angeles as an actor. After numerous appearances on screen and the stage, including the films Of Mice and Men and Reservoir Dogs he decided to try a different form of artistic expression. His first play A Gift From Heaven opened to rave reviews and garnered a "Critic's Choice" from the LA Times as well as honors from many other trade publications. The play was awarded eleven Drama-Logue Awards. His second play, Avenue A, also a LA Times "Critic's Choice", opened to sold out houses and won four Drama Critic's Circle Awards, including the Ted Schmitt Award for Best New Play and the Featured Performance Award for his performance as "Larry". Avenue A also had a successful run at 29th Street Rep Theatre in New York. Following the critical success of his first plays, David was selected in the LA Times' annual feature "Faces to Watch" which highlights the work of a select few of Los Angeles' up and coming artists in the entertainment field.

David adapted his first play A Gift from Heaven for the screen. The film garnered critical acclaim including top honors in Italy's Rome-Florence Film Festival and the Charleston World Fest film festival in South Carolina. David co-wrote and produced the independent film The Corndog Man which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. He created the role of "J.D." in Del Shores' hit play The Trails and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife for which he won an LA Weekly Award for Best Supporting Actor and an Ovation Award for Acting Ensemble. He recently starred as "G.W." in Sordid Lives:The Series.
