Broads' Word Theatre is proud to bring the World Premiere of Robin Rice Lichtig's Women w/o Walls to The Lounge Theatre opening November 7th.
Broads' Word Theatre made a splash with their inaugural production, Fifty Shades of Shrew, at the 2015 Hollywood Fringe Festival (winner Encore! Producers Award). Both critics and audiences agreed, Broads' Word Theatre has "theatrical expertise and imagination" and was recommended by Broadway World, Gia on the Move, Stage Raw, and KPCC.
Broads' Word Theatre's sophomore production is sure to be equally riveting and imaginative. Women w/o Walls is based on the myth of Charon the ferryman on the River Styx and inspired by Dante's Inferno and Sartre's No Exit; Women w/o Walls is an exploration of the fine line between life and death, decision and non-decision and the intense human experience of connection. Pamela, a spoilt and sheltered woman from the Upper East Side, steps onto her first New York Subway train and is confronted by a Nurse who quickly makes it clear that all is not as it seems. They are joined by the homeless, deteriorating Inez, and a music obsessed punk: Tank. Gradually through the course of an increasingly fast journey from the underworld of NYC to the Underworld of myth and legend, the true realization of what this journey entails dawns on them. Each must find a way to fulfill her destiny before the train reaches its destination.
Robin Rice Lichtig is an award winning playwright whose works include over fifty one-act plays and twenty full lengths that have been performed around the world.
Opening Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 8:00 pm. Additional performances Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 4:00 pm though Saturday, December 12th. Broads' Word Theatre will host Talk Backs after the performances on Sunday, November 15th with the Artistic Director, Director, and cast and on Sunday, December 6th with the Writer, Director, and cast.
Broads' Word Theatre produces theatre by and about women, for everyone. In a theatrical climate where there are always an abundance of talented actresses and often too few good roles for them to bring to life, Broads' Word Theatre is dedicated to letting those actresses shine in a way you've never seen them before.
