Multi-award winning Rogue Machine today announced their eighth WEST COAST PREMIERE production in only their third season.
Frances Conroy wonders how she ended up here. Her mother is driving her crazy. Her aunt is stalking a married man. Her brother is in prison. She dreams of Bhutan but can barely find the kitchen door.Daisy Foote (Playwright) was honored with the Roger L. Stevens Incentive Award, in association with the Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays, in cooperation with the President's Committee for the Arts. Her plays include Living With Mary; God's Pictures, which had its world premiere at the Indiana Repertory Theater; Farley and Betsy, produced by the Women's Project in its "First Look" series; Darcy and Clara; The Hand of God, developed with a commission from Wind Dancer Productions, a workshop at the Eugene O'Neill National Playwrights Conference; and When They Speak of Rita, which was developed with a commission from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and produced at Primary Stages in New York. Ms. Foote's screenplays include an adaptation of Elizabeth Jolley's The Last Crop for Destiny Productions, which will be directed by Terry Kinney. She has adapted T.C. Boyle's intricate novel Water Music for Earthbourne Films and has just completed an adaptation of John Steinbeck's The Winter of Our Discontent for Steppenwolf Theatre's new film division. Upcoming projects include Lucy Grealy's Autobiography of a Face, which she will be adapting into a screenplay. Her plays When They Speak of Rita and Farley and Betsy have been published by Smith & Kraus. Scenes from When They Speak of Rita have been selected for Smith & Kraus' Best Stage Scenes of 2000, Best Men's Monologues of 2000, and Best Women's Monologues of 2000.
ELINA de SANTOS (Director) is an award-winning director whose most recent credit was the "Critic's Choice" production of Arthur Miller's Broken Glass for the West Coast Jewish Theatre. In 2010, she directed a workshop of Galileo by Bertolt Brecht at Pacific Resident Theatre Co-op and the world premiere of Yard Sale Signs by Jennie Webb at Rogue Machine Theatre. Her other directing credits include Proof by David Auburn, Misalliance by George Bernard Shaw and Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman. Elina received a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for her work on Orpheus Descending.
John PerriN FLYNN (Producer/Artistic Director) is responsible for bringing the world premiere hit play Small Engine Repair to Los Angeles (5 Ovation Award nominations 2011). He directed the critically acclaimed Los Angeles premiere of The Sunset Limited, (CRITIC'S CHOICE-LA Times; GO- LA Weekly, CRITIC'S PICK-Backstage, Ovation RECOMMENDED), which played to sold out houses for nearly six months. He directed the multi-award winning world premiere of Henry Murray's Treefall (now being produced regionally and published by the Dramatist Play Service in 2010), Monkey Adored running simultaneously with Bhutan, and the critically acclaimed Los Angeles premiere of Rogue Machine's inaugural production Compleat Female Stage Beauty. John helmed the Craig Lucas hit Small Tragedy at The Odyssey Theatre and the world premiere of John Pollono's Lost and Found at The Lounge Theatre. He is Rogue Machine's founding Artistic Director and has been the Executive Producer of all three successful seasons.
