There will be swashbuckling when Wasatch Theatrical Ventures presents the Tony-nominated comedy MOON OVER BUFFALO, written by Ken Ludwig (Lend Me a Tenor), directed by Kiff Scholl, produced by Racquel Lehrman/Theatre Planners, opening today, August 2 at the Grove Center Theatre in Burbank, CA.

In this madcap farce that bowled over Broadway audiences and critics alike, Charlotte and George Hay, a once-famed acting couple are on tour in Buffalo in 1953 with a repertory consisting of Cyrano de Bergerac (the "revised, one nostril version") and Noel Coward's Private Lives. Fate has given these fading stars one more shot at the big time - - starring roles in a motion picture epic, if they're up for it. But here's the rub! Will George be sober enough to play? Will Charlotte appear or run off with her agent? Hilarious misunderstandings pile on madcap misadventures in this popular comedy by Ken Ludwig, one of America's premiere playwrights.

Wasatch Theatrical Ventures (WTV), the executive producer of MOON OVER BUFFALO, is a not-for-profit company established in 2010 fueled by a passion to produce great American plays, exclusively penned by established American playwrights, and producing them in intimate theatres, where the dynamic between audience and actor is unique. WTV takes pride in offering the highest level of production values while making the plays available to the public at low ticket prices. The company has produced five productions in LA since its inception: Arthur Miller's All My Sons, The Prisoner of Second Avenue by Neil Simon, the West Coast Premiere of Theresa Rebeck's Our House, The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, newly adapted by Wendy Kesselman, and most recently Lawrence and Lee's Inherit the Wind. All of the productions have been well received by reviewers and audience members alike.

When founding member Mark Belnick was asked as to how MOON OVER BUFFALO made it on the slate for WTV's 2014 Season he replied, "Because a great farce is rare and MOON OVER BUFFALO is a great farce by a terrific American playwright. Nobody writes modern American farce like Ken Ludwig. It's a challenge to produce, direct and act in his farces. Ludwig's Tony-nominated MOON OVER BUFFALO is one of his best."

"There is no other genre of theatre that I enjoy working on more than farce," comments the production's director Kiff Scholl. "Farce is a very precise art-form. When entering through a door at a very specific moment is vital to the story, timing is everything. So finding the rhythm to these madcap journeys is something special. No wonder the New York Times called Ludwig 'one of those rare contemporary playwrights who thinks in terms of old-fashioned knockabout farce, and that's something to be cherished'."

Director Kiff Scholl continued, "I am truly honored that WTV asked me to direct Ken Ludwig's masterful Moon Over Buffalo. Every night of rehearsal was a laugh riot from start to finish. Who wouldn't like a job like that?"

The cast features the talents of Mark Belnick, Paul Galliano, Carol Herman, Sarah Randall Hunt, Kimberly Lewis, Paul Michael Nieman, Chuck Raucci, and Keri Safran.

WTV's production of MOON OVER BUFFALO opens today, August 2, and runs through September 14. (Dark August 29, 30, & 31) Plays Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm; Sunday matinees at 3pm. The Grove Center Theatre is located at 1111-B West Olive Avenue in the George Izay Park in Burbank (91506).
