"What is Art?", an event created by James R.W. Hiatt and Cat LaCohie and directed by James R.W. Hiatt, will be presented at the Ruby Theatre (The Complex, Hollywood) in January and February 2013.

"What is Art" is produced by Steve Saunders and John Bucher and co-produced by Danny Derakhshan and Cat LaCohie with associate producer Joel Cooper.

The night features the Tony Award winning comedic play "ART" by Yasmina Reza, an experimental visual arts gallery show, and a performance art spectacle featuring circus, burlesque, glass-walking, dance, opera, dance, magic, and more!

The night begins with "Avant Garde", our very own Experimental Visual Arts Gallery showing, hosted at the Ruby Theater, featuring new works by talented Artists who push the bounds and delve into a personal exploration of Art. We will feature a variety of mediums including painting, photography, sculpture, and more.

After enjoying the art, wine, and cheese, the event shall feature the brilliant comedic play "Art", written by Yasmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton. "Art", directed by James R.W. Hiatt, stars Kelly Gullett as "Marc", Micah Brenner as "Serge", and Chris Karmiol as "Yvan". The Production Designer is Ben Boquist.

At the conclusion of the play, the night continues after a brief intermission. "Arts du Spectacle", hosted by the lovely Cat LaCohie, is a Performance Art spectacle featuring magicians, acrobats, contortionists, comedians, burlesque, contemporary singers, opera arias, dance numbers, and more, in the quest to ask the question "What is ART?" most fully.

It all takes place tonight, January 18-20, 25-27, 31; February 1-3. Doors open at 6:00 PM at the RUBY Theater at the Complex, 6476 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, Calif.
