A Valentine's Day treat of short plays centered around love opens Feb 14 for a limited run at Little Fish Theatre. Loves Me/Loves Me Not features staged readings of six plays from two internationally-produced playwrights, directed and performed by Little Fish Theatre company members.
Valentine's Day is either the most romantic day of the year or a painful reminder of how awful being in (or out of) love can be. Our Loves Me/Loves Me Not short plays celebrate all the many stages of love and commitment.
From playwright Mark Harvey Levine comes Ordained, Take Our Picture, and Surprise. Levine's short plays have been produced over 1600 times everywhere from Bangalore to Bucharest, and from Lima to London. His work has won over 35 awards, and made into films shown at the Cannes Film Festival, the Tribeca Film Festival, and HBO. Playwright Steven Korbar's pieces are I Thought I Heard A Voice I Knew, Honestly, and The Seat Filler. Korbar's work has been produced throughout the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Three of his short plays have been published in Smith and Kraus' Best Short Plays series.
The cast of Loves Me/Loves Me Not includes Tara Donovan (Balcony Scene), Kathryn Farren (Provenance), Daniel Gallai (Pick of the Vine, 2018), David Graham (Plaza Suite), Greg Prusiewicz (Balcony Scene), and Annie Vest (Plaza Suite). Directing is Patrick Vest (Dinner with Friends).
"Whether you love Valentines Day or hate it, there'll be something for you in this short & sweet (and not so sweet) evening of plays about romantic relationships," remarks Annie Vest.
Love Me/Loves Me Not is a special event which runs Thursday February 14 and Friday February 15, at 8:00pm, with a special ticket price of only $20.
Founded in 2002 as an artists' ensemble, Little Fish Theatre presents classic and contemporary plays in an intimate setting on Centre Street in downtown San Pedro.
