Chris Isaacson announces the performers for UPRIGHT CABARET's AMERICAN ICON SERIES' third show of their 3rd Season, RHYTHM OF THE NIGHT, starring Olivier Award-Winner Lesli Margherita, American Idol's David Hernandez (Thousand Oaks and Hollywood Shows only) & Lexi Lawson,  (Rent, In The Heights)) and ROGELIO DOUGLAS, JR. (In The Heights, The Little Mermaid)) celebrating the music of Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan and Santana! 
 
Stars from American Idol to Broadway will sing the #1 hits of our American Music Icons against a backdrop of multi-media.  Expect to hear favorites like Livin' La Vida Loca, Shake Your Bon-Bon, Rhythm Is Gonna Get You, Anything for You, Smooth, Let It Shine, and more, performed live with the Upright Cabaret band! This highly acclaimed series is now performing at four venues: in Hollywood at the Catalina Jazz Club, in Palm Springs at the Annenberg Theater, at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and Thousand Oaks Scherr Forum Theatre!
 
L.A.'s famed Upright Cabaret showcases the "next generation" of world-class performers with this NEW series entitled the "American Icon Series"!  Now in its third smash year, these evenings feature stars from American Idol to Broadway singing the #1 hits of our American Music Icons including Diana Ross, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Carole King and more!

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS FOR "RHYTHM OF THE NIGHT"

Olivier Award-winner Lesli Margherita - Born and raised in California, Lesli trained at UCLA, and was soon after chosen to star in MGM's television series "Fame LA", directed by Kenny Ortega. She has gone on to star and recur on numerous us television shows and pilots including  "The Suite Life On Deck", "Charmed", "NYPD Blue", "The District", "The King of Queens", "Thieves", "JAG", "Fighting Fitzgeralds", "Nikki," "Kristin", and "On The Lot", produced by Steven Spielberg. Film credits include:  Joel Schumacher's The Number 23 and the Sam Raimi produced horror film Boogeyman 2 . Lesli can also be heard on several animated films and TV shows, most recently Disney's Cinderella 3 and Sponge Bob Squarepants.  Lesli recently starred opposite Gary Beach as the Lady of the Lake in Spamalot at Sacramento Music Circus.  Early this year she headlined the West Coast Premiere of Michael John LaChiusa's See What I Wanna See at The Blank Theater in Hollywood and Rated RSO at the Boston Court Performing Arts Center, and appeared as Gloria in Jason Alexander's production of Damn Yankees at Reprise. In 2009, Leslie was honored with a Olivier Award for her work in the musical Zorro on the West End. Performing since childhood,  Lesli has an extensive resume of national tour, Los Angeles company and regional theater credits.  Favorite leading roles include:  Aida, Kiss Me Kate , Man Of La Mancha, Beehive , Anything Goes ,West Side Story , Zorba , Reefer Madness, Grease , A Chorus Line , Gypsy , and Dames At Sea . Her nightclub act, "All Hail the Queen" continues to play to sellout crowds throughout LA.
 
Rogelio Douglas, Jr. belongs to one of the rare categories of performers known as a "triple threat". He moves effortlessly between the worlds of television, theatre, dance and music as he makes his mark as an actor, singer, dancer and songwriter. 
 
He first gained attention as a lead tap dancer in RIVERDANCE: THE SHOW on Broadway, its world and national tours and in the film RIVERDANCE: LIVE FROM GENEVA.  He is an original Broadway cast member of the Tony and Grammy Award-winning Lin-Manuel Miranda musical IN THE HEIGHTS, and also starred as "Benny" in the production's first national tour. He starred in the Broadway production of THE LITTLE MERMAID as Sebastian, the Crab. Off- Broadway, Rogelio appeared in the musical CELIA: THE LIFE AND MUSIC OF CELIA CRUZ  and the 25th anniversary performance of DREAMGIRLS  with Jennifer Holliday. With his recent move to Los Angeles, Rogelio landed an appearance on NBC's hit comedy PARKS AND RECREATION. He made a guest appearance on Kim Fields HOLIDAY LOVE SPECIAL which aired on TV One where he had the opportunity to tap dance as well as sing in the company of Yolanda Adams, Gerald Albright and Kenny Lattimore. Rogelio can often be found in the recording studio working on such diverse projects as vocal arranging on music written by Tony and Grammy winning arranger Ben Sherman for Sesame Street and the Electric Company as well as writing, singing and arranging for "UDraw", a popular Nintendo Wii video game. Currently, Rogelio is working on his first full length album with Printz Board, Producer and Music Director for The Black Eyed Peas under his Beets & produce Music House and Production Company.
 
Lexi Lawson Originally from the Bronx, NY- Lexi Lawson has been entertaining audiences nationwide since she was seven years old. This young and talented singer/songwriter has graced hundreds of stages around the world and has held the title of Orange County Idol, Dutchess County Idol, and Top 10 Hudson Valley Idol. Lexi Lawson was also on AMERICAN IDOL Season 8, where Simon Cowell stated "100 percent yes!!!"  She made it to Hollywood but left the show to play MIMI in the world Broadway tour of Rent starring Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp. She has also played Vanessa in the 1st National tour of In The Heights and Carmen in Fame (Macau, China) among more than a dozen other productions.
 
She has performed at a range of venues such as Madison Square Garden and Mohegan Sun Arena with Lisa Lisa And The Cult Jams; She opened up for International R&B star Ne-Yo, toured with Glenn Wish in Sweden and Germany, and backed up Gloria Gaynor. Her TV and Film credits include "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" (2009 – New Line Cinema) starring Michael Douglas, Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Gardner, "Can you Hear The Music" (Intermedia), "What Would You Do?" (ABC), "Evergirls" (Nickelodeon), "Public Nuisance" (Comedy Central).
 
Actor/singer/songwriter, David Hernandez (Thousand Oaks and Hollywood Shows only), gained national attention with his powerful voice and affable personality as an American Idol finalist.  He began acting and singing at age six, starring in musicals and performing with various theatre companies throughout Arizona. As a young teenager David began writing original music and recording his material. A Phoenix native, Hernandez recently moved to Hollywood where he is writing new songs, working in the recording studio producing his newest music, and pursuing his passion for acting.  He has already completed his first feature film as the lead in the movie Synthetic Truth.
 
In addition to American Idol, David has showcased his talents on The Ellen Show, The Today Show, MTV's TRL, EXTRA, Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, Teen Choice Awards, TV Guides' Sexiest Stars 2008, Idol Tonight, Idol Gives Back and FOX-TV.  A once-in-a-life-time invitation came to David when he was asked to sing at the Inaugural Kick-Off Celebration ball for President Barack Obama.  He was honored to share the stage with Jamie Foxx, John Legend and Maroon 5, along with event hosts Jessica Alba and legendary TV producer, Norman Lear.  Scottsdale's most exclusive restaurant/show club, Barcelona, was David's performance home for nearly a year performing three nights a week with his band Generation.  Featured several times on FOX-TV, David's high energy stage presence and flawless vocal delivery kept the club packed every night.
 
During holiday season 2008 and 2009, David traveled throughout the US, singing for over 250,000 fans, as the star of a twenty-four city tour entitled Idols at Christmas. Las Vegas was home for David Over the July 4th weekend 2009, where he headlined three sold out shows in the showroom at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas.  Vegas called again when he was asked to be the featured performer in a major Las Vegas Casino's showroom for their 2010 New Year's Eve Show.
 
Ballroom With A Twist is Hernandez's newest creative adventure.  He is the featured vocalist in this exhilarating national-tour spinoff of TV's hit show Dancing with the Stars.  It's directed and choreographed by Dancing with the Stars own Louis Van Amstel.  The show is headed north this year for a major Canadian tour. This is a 'must see' music and dance extravaganza.  And if that wasn't enough to keep David busy, he also performs in Motown Memories, Jersey Rocks and the Celebrate Motown tour.
