In honor of Black History Month, Towne Street Theatre celebrates the diaspora of the black experience onstage with its 4th Annual Ten Minute Play Festival "The Black Experience" - Colored, Negro, Black, African-American; a collection of our stories" will be performed at the Stella Adler Theater. Performance dates are February 3-6, 10-13, and 17-20; Thursday-Saturday performances are at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday performances are at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased online at http://www.townestreet.org/ or at the box office one hour before performance time, 6773 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA.

Towne Street Theatre's company members will direct these twelve new plays:

  • Babble Rousers by Barbara White Morgan
  • Follow by Michael Patrick Spillers
  • Secret Sisters by Veronica Thompson; Directed by Nancy Cheryll Davis
  • I Dream of Emmett Till by David Lindsey
  • Conversation Café by Nicole L. Hill
  • Surprised by Stan Sellers; Directed by Nancy Renee
  • Still Growing Up by Vonna Bowen
  • Number 1 Recruit by Melvin Johnson
  • Social Science by Robert Barnett; Directed by Tony Robinson
  • Boo's Flowers by Kay Poiro
  • Intervention by Harriet Dickey; Directed by Veronica Thompson
  • Souls to Take by Mark V. Jones; Directed by Mark V. Jones

These timely plays are relevant to both black audience members as well as the greater American community. Played out onstage are conflicting perspectives on issues that shake us to our very core including terrorism, family, sexuality, cultural intersections, and African Americans' place in American history.
