Toil and Trouble Burlesque to Present A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM

Come witness this sexy burlesque-fueled adaption of Shakespeare's classic comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream, hosted by none other than Puck himself!

Toil and Trouble is proud to announce its debut full-length production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. The latest installment of Toil and Trouble will take place on September 19th and 26th at 8pm at The Federal Bar in North Hollywood.

This adaption of the play will follow the classic plot of Midsummer, with a focus on the original text. It will feature eight different song, dance, and burlesque numbers performed by a cast of LA's most renowned cabaret performers. (Oh yes, there will be stripping.)

As described by creative producer, Angie Hobin, "Toil and Trouble has something for every kind of audience member that LA has to offer- not unlike how the theater was back in the time of William Shakespeare himself. For our more scholarly patrons, we have a vast myriad of 'suggestive-textual-innuendos' peppered in and throughout the performances that will likely go unnoticed to anyone but those more familiar with Shakespeare's work. Our theater lovers will get to see the classic scenes they know by heart unfold in ways they've never imagined, and our burlesque fans will see some of the most talented and creative performers that the LA burlesque scene has ever produced. Oh, and there will also be plenty of boobs... for everyone. We like to think of it as being 'low-brow Shakespeare, and high-brow burlesque'... if that makes any sense at all."

The doors to the theater will be open an hour prior to showtime, at 7:00pm, and seating will be first come, first serve. Each of our patrons will be greeted by a devilishly handsome door man, and a friendly bar staff. A magical pre-show will begin 15 minutes prior to show time, and the show it's self will begin promptly at 8:00pm and will run until approximately 10:30pm with one 15 minute intermission. Patrons are encouraged to dress up in either burlesque or Shakespearean attire, and are more than encouraged to stay after the show and have drinks at the bar with the cast!

Live Music: Toil and Trouble is very excited to welcome concert pianist Lauren Emerson to the show as our our live accompanist, and newest company member! Welcome aboard, Lauren!
