A sexy reimagining of Shakespeare's most iconic scenes, hosted by Shakespeare himself at the Prospect Theater in Hollywood.

Toil and Trouble is proud to announce their flagship production of 2017! The first show of the new year will take place on January 3rd at 8pm in their new home at The Prospect Theater in the heart of Hollywood. The night will consist of eight different scenes featuring Shakespeare's most iconic characters, as portrayed by a cast of LA's most renowned burlesque performers. (Oh yes, there will be stripping.)

As described by the creative producer, Burgundy Kate, "Toil and Trouble has something for every kind of audience member LA has to offer- not unlike how the theater was back in the time of William Shakespeare himself. For our more scholarly patrons, we have a vast myriad of 'suggestive-textual-innuendos' peppered in and throughout the performances that will likely go unnoticed to anyone but those more familiar with Shakespeare's work. Our theater lovers will get to see the classic scenes they know by heart unfold in ways they've never imagined, and our burlesque fans will see some of the most talented and creative performers that the LA burlesque scene has to offer. Oh, and there will also be plenty of boobs... for everyone. We like to think of it as being 'low-brow Shakespeare, and high-brow burlesque'... if that makes any sense at all."

This show will be hosted by crowd-favorite H.P. Loveshaft as 'Sexy William Shakespeare', co-hosted and kittened by Sultry Sweet Burlesque and Variety Show's resident song bird, Sweet Tee, and will feature acts from Antony and Cleopatra, Titus Andronicus, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Macbeth, As You Like It, and Much Ado About Nothing.

What to Expect: The doors to the theater will be open an hour prior to showtime, at 7pm. Guests are encouraged to arrive early, as seating will be first-come, first-serve. Upon arrival, our guests will be greeted by a friendly hostess and shown to their tables where they will be presented with a dinner menu, boasting delicious small plates, entrée's and desserts as designed by Food Network's Cutthroat Kitchen winner, Chef Kyle Schutte. Table service will be provided prior to and throughout the entirety of the evening. *Please note that a two item minimum is required of each patron* The show will begin promptly at 8pm and run for approximately 90 minutes, with a brief ten minute intermission.

New Heights: Toil and Trouble is very excited to welcome a long anticipated new element to the show. Joining our ever growing team of classic burlesquers, neo-burlesquers, comedic burlesquers, dancers, singers, contortionists and clowns is aerialist and dancer Ruby Hex, who will be performing an arial silk act as 'Queen Mab' (the romanticized fairy-like personification of corrupted desires) whom Mercutio fantasizes about on his way to the masquerade in Romeo and Juliet. Welcome aboard, Ruby!

Prospect Theater is a new dinner theater-style theater located in the heart of Hollywood. They pride themselves in producing an immersive entertainment experience featuring finely crafted dining, cocktails, and world-class theatrical and music events. Prospect Theater is a trailblazer for a new-wave of classy, fun, affordable entertainment for young adults who are seeking something more cultured than a night out at the club. As the theater's artistic producer Joey Bybee said to LA Weekly, "I want a fun, classy night out. People want Broadway singers, they want foodie-level food, they want a cool atmosphere, but they don't want to spend a lot of money for it. Ok! Fine, let's do that then. So my hope and goal is, I kind of want to retrain people our age what a night out can be." The theater is located at 6356 Hollywood Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90028.
