Theatre of Arts has announced its production of The Shape of Things by Neil LaBute, set to run eight performances only from March 14?28. Directed by David Conolly, the cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Shalom DeSota, Hallie Gibb, Joshua Johnson, Vincent Mordente, Josephine Parks, and Gerald Waters.

The Shape of Things is set in a small university town in the American Midwest and centers on the lives of four young students who become emotionally and romantically involved. How far would you go for love? For art? What would you be willing to change? What price might you pay? Such are the painful questions explored in the play. A young student drifts into an ever-changing relationship with an art major while his best friend's engagement crumbles, unleashing a drama that peels back the skin of two modern-day relationships.

Set design is by Natalie Morales, lighting design is by David Zahacewski, and costume design is by Sara Nitikman. The stage manager is Kalaiya Ramsey. During the run of the play, Theatre of Arts will be featuring a lobby art exhibition presented by Robert Landry and Liz Young.

Neil LaBute is perhaps best known for a play that he wrote and later adapted for film, In the Company of Men (1997) which won awards from the Sundance Film Festival, the Independent Spirit Awards, and the New York Film Critics Circle. His other plays include Filthy Talk for Troubled Times, Bash: Latter-Day Plays, The Mercy Seat, The Distance From Here, The Mercy Seat, Fat Pig, Reasons to Be Pretty, The Break of Noon, Reasons to Be Happy, All The Ways To Say I Love You, and many more.
