Hollywood's exciting and talented new charity-based play reading series, The Spare Change Series, will be presenting their next staged reading of Noel Coward's DESIGN FOR LIVING to benefit The Make-A-Wish Foundation. The production will take place on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 7pm at the Art of Acting Studio, located at 1017 N. Orange Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90038. The entire evening will be donation based, and all proceeds will be given to Make-A-Wish. The Spare Change Series was founded as a means to raise awareness and money for various charities while continuing to grow a strong theatre scene in Los Angeles.

Several months ago, Make-A-Wish put out a call for Los Angeles volunteers to play fans and paparazzi for a wish kid named Celebrity Grace. Several Spare Change artists showed up for a very moving and heartwarming experience, which inspired the crew to raise money for the organization. One of Noel Coward's lesser-known gems, DESIGN FOR LIVING was banned in London in the 1930's due to its risqué content and bawdy themes. Otto (Ben Weaver), Gilda (Andria Kozica), and Leo (Adam Silver), are the three points of a very emotional, somewhat dramatic, and always hysterical love triangle - or as family friend Ernest Friedman (Michael Keith Allen) calls it, "a three-sided erotic hotch-potch."

DESIGN FOR LIVING keeps all of Coward's wit and charm while moving us through the worlds of art and culture in Paris, London, and New York in the 1930's - and also the various stages of a sexy and provocative threesome. Ben Weaver is directing, and Rachel Winfree, Chad Miller, and Chandler Patton round out the cast.

The Spare Change Series is a donation-based reading series committed to giving life to powerful, thought- provoking plays while raising awareness and money for charity. Each reading is dedicated to a charity and all proceeds from the evening will be donated to that organization. We aim to build a community of thoughtful, passionate artists using their talents for a greater good. The Art of Acting Studio has generously donated their theatre for this production.
