The Shape of Things, Neil LaBute's critically acclaimed dark comedy, will receive a limited six week run at the Sidewalk Studio Theatre (4150 Riverside Drive, Toluca Lake) in Los Angeles.  The production opens July 6 and runs thru August 15, with regular performances Thursday through Saturday at 8:00 p.m.

"While visiting an art museum, nerdy college student Adam meets an iconoclastic artist named Evelyn, and is instantly smitten.  As their relationship develops, she gradually encourages Adam to change in a number of ways.  But as his friendships with lost love Jenny and her fiancé Phillip flounder, is change for good or ill?  Ditching a dodgy jacket is one thing, but how is Adam's transformation affecting his soul?," state press notes.

The Shape of Things "explores the extremes of art and artifice with devastating effect, and draws a twisted love story about manipulation, the loss of innocence, and the brutality of betrayal."

This marks the premiere production of Henke Acting Studio and Nobull Productions.  The play is directed by Brad William-Henke (ABC's October Road, Showtime's Dexter) and Katelin Chesna-Henke.  It features Tammy Minoff (B'way: The Will Rogers Follies, The Goodbye Girl, Film: Only You), Samuel Child (Film: The Hamiltons, Lurking in Suburbia), James Lowe (f-ing A, The Glory of Living), and Katherine Rocheleau (Off-B'way: The City, Holiday).

The Shape of Things premiered at London's Almeida Theatre in 2001, before transferring Off-Broadway in the fall.  A film version, adapted by LaBute and starring Paul Rudd and Rachel Weisz, was released in 2003.

Tickets are $15.  The Sidewalk Studio Theatre is located at 4150 Riverside Drive in Toluca Lake.  For reservations, visit www.plays411.com.
