The Rockettes Announce National Auditions for 2016 Summer Intensive Program in NYC

Madison Square Garden Entertainment announced today the 2016 audition cites and dates for the Rockettes Summer Intensive training program in New York City. The Rockettes Summer Intensive offers aspiring dancers the unique opportunity to train under Julie Branam, the director and chorerographer of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and the Rockettes to learn the signature precision technique of the iconic dance company. Acceptance into the Rockettes Summer Intensive is a crucial stepping stone for Rockettes hopefuls who aspire to one day kick alongside the Rockettes. More than 60 Rockettes have received invitations to join the line through the Rockettes Summer Intensive. Auditions begin January 10, 2016 in Orlando, FL and run through February 7, 2015 in nine different cities across the country.

"The Rockettes Summer Intensive is a pivotal program for serious dancers who want to learn the training and technique of the Rockettes precision dance style," said Julie Branam, director and choreographer of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and the Rockettes Summer Intensive. "Our dance education programs are invaluable for dancers and one of the best training tools for talented Rockette hopefuls who strive to become part of the legendary dance company."

The Rockettes Summer Intensive is a week-long program that runs each week between June 18 and August 12 and is hosted in the studios where the Rockettes rehearse for their starring roles in the annual production of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular as well as their upcoming Rockettes New York Spectacular opening in June 2016. Dancers accepted into the program rehearse daily from 9:30am to 5:00pm. The Rockettes distinctive style transcends a multitude of dance disciplines including jazz, tap, ballet, musical theater and the famous Rockettes kick line. The curriculum focuses on original choreography and formations from the Rockettes repertoire that will culminate in a student showcase to be held in a New York City theater. To be considered for the Rockettes Summer Intensive, dancers must be at least 14 years of age (by June 18, 2016) with a minimum of five years training in tap, jazz and ballet and must attend a live audition or submit a video audition. All dancers must register online for an audition and pay an audition fee of $50.
