THE ROAD THEATRE COMPANY and Taylor Gilbert, Founder/Artistic Director together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director, are thrilled to announce the first show of its 2013-2014 and 23rd season, the World Premiere of LAKE ANNE, written by Marthe Rachel Gold and directed by John Frank Levey. LAKE ANNE will preview tonight, , September 17; Wednesday, September 18 & Thursday, September 19 at 8pm and will open on Friday, September 20 at 8pm and run through Saturday, November 9th at the Road Theatre Company's new second home, the Road on Magnolia, located in The NoHo Senior Arts Colony, 10747 Magnolia Blvd. in North Hollywood.

A former prima ballerina teetering on The Edge, her fragile damaged son, a protege/relative who may be offering more than a dance, a mother with her own agenda. These combustible ingredients are set in motion by a New York actress as she disrupts the peace in this moving and shocking world premiere play!

MARTHE RACHEL GOLD (Playwright) is a physician whose career has included work as a country doctor, and work in national health care reform. She is currently a Professor of Community Health and Social Medicine at the City College of New York. But before all that, she was an actor and a writer, and a number of years ago, her love of the theater brought her back to writing plays. She has had several staged readings both in New York and LA, and her play, Marsh Light, has had productions in Barnstable, MA, and here in LA. She takes particular delight in the Road production of Lake Anne, as she works with the wonderful team here, and rejoins her college-day director, John Frank Levey in making a play together once again.

John Frank LEVEY (Director) is the four-time Emmy award winning casting director of er and The West Wing. He has received six Artios Awards for excellence in casting and the prestigious Hoyt Bowers award for life time achievement from the Casting Society of America. With LAKE ANNE he returns, as he has occasionally over the years to his first professional love, the theatre. In the early 1980's he spent several years at The Mark Taper Forum as a director. He directed at the Taper in their literary cabaret, in the new play festival, and in a series of staged readings of new work in addition to assisting on the main stage including a wonderful production of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof with the legendary Jose Quintero at the helm.
This marks his second collaboration with Marthe Rachel Gold whose play Marsh Light he directed here in LA.

The cast of LAKE ANNE features: Laurie O'Brien, Laura Gardner, Michael Traynor, Alex Smith and Stephanie Michels.

LAKE ANNE features an award-winning design team. The Scenic Design is by JR Bruce. The Lighting Design is by Derrick McDaniel. The Costume Design is by Lyn Paolo. The Sound Design is by David B. Marling. The Prop Design is by Rich Kerns. LAKE ANNE is being produced by Sean Spann and Miles Warner.

LAKE ANNE will preview tonight, September 17; Wednesday, September 18 & Thursday, September 19 at 8pm and will open on Friday, September 20 at 8pm and run through Saturday, November 9th at the Road Theatre Company's new second home, the Road on Magnolia, located in The NoHo Senior Arts Colony, 10747 Magnolia Blvd. in North Hollywood.
