The Music Center is partnering with The Dizzy Feet Foundation (DFF) to present the West Coast's flagship National Dance Day event for the sixth year, this year in Grand Park. Dancers of all skill levels are invited to participate in the official National Dance Day routine at the free dance extravaganza.
Jenna Elfman, cast members from NBC's World of Dance Kyle VanNewKirk and Keoni and Mari Madrid, and host Christopher Rivas will join in the day's activities. The pre-recorded routine features dancers from the YouTube Red series Step Up: High Water and is available at musiccenter.org/ndd.
Aspiring dancers and dance aficionados alike will have the chance to enjoy interactive performances by some of the best dance companies in Los Angeles. They include GROOV3, which focuses on putting the fun back into fitness with choreographed dance parties and classes; DEA Youth Dance Program, an after-school dance initiative that offers the healthy outlet of dance to youth; Invertigo Dance Theater, which promotes physical and artistic empowerment by making dance accessible and fun for many underserved communities with an emphasis on low-income students and people living with Parkinson's disease; Infinite Flow, America's first professional wheelchair ballroom dance company that believes each person has a dancer inside and should have access to quality dance instruction; and DJ One in a Million, who will close out the afternoon with family-friendly dance favorites by Grand Park's splashpad.
The events take place on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Grand Park, 200 N. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012. Visit musiccenter.org/ndd for more details.
Conceived originally by Nigel Lythgoe, National Dance Day is a nationwide grassroots initiative that promotes the joy and benefits of dance for everyone.
