The Moving Art Collective, a movement-based theatre ensemble will showcase two shows, Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis and Thirteen's Spring, both directed by Fernando Belo at the Hollywood Fringe Festival beginning June 3rd 2016.

The first show to premiere in June is an adaptation of Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis, a movement-based piece telling the story of Gregor Samsa, an overworked traveling salesman who one morning wakes from uneasy dreams to find he is transformed into a monstrous vermin. Gregor must now adjust to his new condition, as he deals with being burdensome to his parents and sister, repelled by the horrible creature he has become.

The second show is Thirteen's Spring, written by Amanda Jane Shank, a 50-minute coming-of-age piece inspired by the words of Anne Frank. Thirteen's Spring delves into the weeks leading up to Anne receiving her diary and before her family goes into hiding. The universal relationship between father and daughter, the power of young love, and the dangerous events surrounding so many, come to life as history and inspired events are explored through movement and the powerful use of ensemble.

Michael Bates plays Anne's father and Father Samsa, he discusses The Moving Art Collective's work process, "We uncover the specifics of each character's feelings and motivations and let that inform the movement we create for the piece. The result of this collaborative process is that the work speaks to the performer at a very intimate level. I hope these shows touch our audiences and help them reflect on the experiences of other families around the world."

Nora King plays Anne Frank in Thirteen's Spring, "The most rewarding part of this work is the emotional connection that gestures and movement allow me to have with the story. It ia truly a unique theatrical experience for me as a performer."

Fernando Belo, the Artistic Director of The Moving Art Collective is excited to share these pieces at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, "The Hollywood Fringe is a great opportunity to meet other theater makers from Los Angeles and exchange artistic practices. Metamorphosis and Thirteen's Spring are pieces that are very different from each other and we are glad to share with the LA theater community the different shapes our work can take."

The Moving Art Collective invites you to experience these two shows at The Actor's Company (916 North Formosa Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90046) during the month of June. Tickets are $12 for general admission.
