The Long Beach QFilm Festival has announced that they will be presenting another exclusive screening today, January 9, at the historic Art Theatre on Long Beach's renowned Retro Row. This screening is being hosted as part of a winter programming series in addition to QFilms' annual four day festival, which occurs every September.

On January 9 at 12:30pm, QFilms and the Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association will screen the full first season of the new media series Her Story. Chronicling the loves and lives of lesbian and trans women as they explore the intersections between desire and identity, Her Story presents a diversity of women's lives and experiences grossly underrepresented within the mainstream media. Co-written and co-starring both transgender and cisgender women, a milestone in LGBTQ media development, Her Story will be available for digital download in early 2016.

"From TRANSPARENT to Tangerine, it's been great to see more and more films and TV shows put a deeper focus on trans women's lives and relationships of all kinds" says Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association President John Griffiths. "It's also nice to see more trans characters actually played by trans performers. So, with GALECA committed to helping champion strong, universal works of humor and heart, we're proud to let everyone know about Her Story."

Immediately following the screening AfterEllen.com journalist and GALECA Director of Women's Outreach Trish Bendix will moderate a Q&A with co-writers and co-stars Jen Richards and Laura Zak, along with co-star Angelica Ross and additional cast and crew from the series.

Her Story will screen Saturday January 9 at 12:30pm and tickets are $12. The screening will take place at the Art Theatre, located at 2025 E. 4th Street Long Beach, CA 90814. Presale tickets are available by visiting www.centerlb.org. Tickets will also be available at the door on a first come, first served basis. Net proceeds from the event benefit the programs and services at The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach.

The Long Beach QFilm Festival is the City's longest-running film festival. Founded in 1993, QFilms annually presents narrative features, short films, and documentaries that embody the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) communities. The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach is the largest direct-service organization providing support to the LGBTQ community. The Center serves 25,000 clients annual through dozens of programs and services.
