Beginning Sunday, August 30, The Clown School opens its doors to current and returning students for the Clowning Level 2 class, Tears of a Clown, taught by seasoned performer and Clown School instructor Zachary Steel at Live Arts LA in Eagle Rock. This class aims to dive deeper into the beautiful and maddening world of the clown, inviting participants to immerse themselves in clown character and paradigm. Students must have taken either the Clowning Level 1 class or a similar qualifying class, or have had previous clown experience to enroll in Tears of a Clown.
Though he is a familiar face at The Clown School, this will be Mr. Steel's first time taking the reigns of a Level 2 class. In discussing the type of skill development this class has to offer returning students, Mr. Steel explains, "We will explore whether you are the White Clown, the Auguste Clown, or both! Come discover what happens when clown meets costume, archetype, and status." Of the school, Artistic Director David Bridel explains, "We base our work in the discipline of clown because we believe that clowning embraces and celebrates the totality of the human experience and offers unparalleled freedom in art. We love to play!"
Tears of a Clown (Clowning Level 2) runs weekly from Sunday 8/30 through Sunday 10/11, from 5pm-9pm. Must be 18 or older to participate in the class. Classes will be held at Live Arts LA in Eagle Rock and the fee is $395, with discounts offered to those who have previously attended a Clown School class, as well as to those who invite their friends to join The Clown School's mailing list and Facebook and Twitter pages. Stay tuned for exciting Fall offerings at The Clown School. For details, email The Clown School at administrator@theclownschool.com.
