LACC faculty and other ADG members to kick off the five-week exhibit, which will run through November 10.
The Art Directors Guild (ADG, IATSE Local 800) announced the opening of "Inventing the Supernatural: Bringing Horror from Script to Screen," a multi-media exhibition featuring the work of ADG 800 members, at the newly renovated VAMA Gallery (formerly the Da Vinci Gallery) on the Los Angeles City College (LACC) campus.
The opening night reception will be held Thursday, Oct. 13 at 4:00 - 8:00 PM PT. ADG National Executive Director Chuck Parker will join the participating ADG artists, LACC faculty and other ADG members to kick off the five-week exhibit, which will run through November 10th.
"We are excited to be engaging with LACC, one of the most diverse campuses in the country in the heart of Los Angeles, to talk to emerging artists about the work of our members," said Nelson Coates, President of the Art Directors Guild, IATSE Local 800. "Exhibits like this one provide us a unique opportunity to engage with students and let them know what is possible, so they can envision a career and pursue the necessary training and experience to one day work in one of the numerous design positions in the Entertainment Industry."
Themed to match the Halloween season, the exhibit focuses on the art department process of taking a production from concept to reality. "Inventing the Supernatural: Bringing Horror from Script to Screen" exhibit explores how an art department team takes an idea, in this case a supernatural idea that is so shocking, strange, and hard to imagine, and manifests it into an exciting and memorable visual reality.
