It had to happen. Of all the delightful ego clashes, broken friendships, pettiness, sabotage, hurt feelings, crying, tax evasion, financial devastation, jail terms, prison terms, anxiety, bitterness, family battles, clan wars, sniping, jealousy, baubles, bangles and Benzes that have become the mainstay of Bravo's flagship Real Housewives series, one thing was still missing: musical numbers. The World Premiere of THE REAL DRUNK HOUSEWIVES OF THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY in Hollywood at 10:00 p.m. tonight, August 4 ought to remedy that.
"The Real Housewives reunion shows on Bravo have a tendency to turn into satires themselves, but, as fans who wanted to celebrate the craziness, we thought it would be fun to go a step further with our own characters in song and dance numbers," explained Real Drunk's producer/writer/composer Bill Haller. "Of course, when the Orange County Housewives Reunion shows aired this season, we did get pretty scared. We seriously thought we hadn't gone far enough in our own parody."
A party infused Disco-flavored score and songs with titles like "Champagne," "The End of Sober" and "We're Alive (As Long As We're On Bravo)" highlight the themes that run throughout the Housewives franchise. "Since wine and champagne fuel many of the greatest 'Real' TV moments, we strongly encourage our audience to BYOB (small corkage fee applies) for a more immersive theatrical experience....," Haller continued.
Directed by Groundlings Alumni David Jahn, book, music and lyrics by Kelly Holden-Bashar ("Fellowship!") and Bill Haller, choreographed by Jeffrey Polk and produced by Bill & NathAlie Haller, "The Real Drunk Housewives of the San Fernando Valley" features Leah Mangum, Robyn Roth, Jen Rhonheimer, Ana Cristina, Chris Caldwell Eckert, and Sarah French.
Opens Saturday, August 4th at 10:00 p.m.Videos
