'THE PLAY'S THE THING' With Roundabout's Todd Haimes 11/15

This Saturday, November 15th at 10PM to 12AM, Todd Haimes, Artistic Director of Roundabout Theatre Company, will be featured during the intermission of the broadcast of L.A. Theatre Works' The Play's the Thing. The Play's the Thing will broadcast the L.A. production of Speech & Debate by Stephen Karam, starring Andrea Bowen, Bobby Steggert, Gideon Glick and Nora Dunn.

Speech & Debate premiered last year at Roundabout Theatre Company's Black Box Theatre. The play received critical acclaim and was extended twice due to popular demand. Tune in to hear Todd Haimes discuss Roundabout's history with Speech & Debate and Roundabout's philosophy about nurturing emerging new playwrights through its Roundabout Underground program.

In Speech & Debate, three teenage misfits in Salem, Oregon reluctantly form their school's first speech and debate team after discovering they are all linked by a sex scandal that's rocked their town. Secrets become currency, blogs are belted and "bathing suit areas" exposed in this black comedy about what, if anything, it means to be an adult.

The Play's the Thing series can also be heard on 89.7 WGBH in Boston; 91.5 FM WBEZ in Chicago; 94.9 KUOW in Seattle; 93.5 FM KRTS "Marfa Public Radio" in Texas; 90.5 FM KUT in Austin; 88.9 FM KUNM in Albuquerque; 91.5 FM, Interlochen Public Radio in Northern Michigan; 94.1 KPFA in Northern California; 91.1 FM KRCB in Sonoma County; 89.1 KUOR in Redlands; as well as on many other public radio stations nationwide and XM Satellite Radio.

On XM Satellite Radio, The Play's the Thing now airs on Sonic Theater three times a week.  Each broadcast premieres on Friday evening at 8PM eastern/5PM pacific and repeats the following Monday in the same time slot.
