California State University, Fullerton begins the Spring 2018 season with Alan Ayckbourn's comedy, "Taking Steps." Seasoned professional Mark Ramont directs the production, which runs February 23-March 18, 2018 in the Hallberg Theatre on campus. The comedy centers around the tale of Roland, a hard-drinking, irascible tycoon who is interested in buying an old Victorian house that was once a brothel.
"Disney's The Little Mermaid" features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and book by Doug Wright. The production is directed by professional actress and director Eve Himmelheber with choreography by Karl Warden and musical direction by Corey Hirsch, and runs March 23-April 15, 2018 in the Little Theatre on campus. Mermaid princess Ariel is fascinated by the world and lives of people on dry land and longs to join them. However, her father, King Triton, forbids contact. When she falls in love with the human Prince Eric from afar, she makes a deal with the evil Ursula.??
"The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde is directed by the award-winning James R. Taulli and runs April 20-May 6, 2018 in the Young Theatre on campus. Jack and Algernon each "reinvent the truth" to woo the women who have captured their hearts. When the gentlemen are coerced to reveal their web of lies and reveal themselves to their ladies, being "earnest" takes new meaning.
Closing the Spring 2018 season is "Spring Dance Theatre" coordinated by CSUF faculty member Gladys Kares. The season's final production runs May 3-13, 2018 in the Little Theatre on campus and features student dancers as well as student, faculty and guest-artist choreographers.
Subscriptions for the Theatre & Dance Spring 2018 Season at California State University, Fullerton are available now.
