Each weekend award season inches closer, and movie theaters are filled with highly anticipated releases sure to be the frontrunners of Oscar buzz discussions. Tom Hooper's live singing Les Miserables (starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway), and Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained (Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz) both open Christmas Day, and without a doubt will score nominations in all the top categories along with huge weekends at the box office.

Also in the mix are indie darlings "Silver Linings Playbook" and "The Sessions", near guaranteed nominations for stars Jennifer Lawrence and Helen Hunt, respectively, while December release "The Impossible", starring Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts, has already begun whispers of nominations.

As a fresh alternative, NewFilmmakers LA Film Festival presents an evening of independent shorts and features, showcasing the faces of Young Hollywood, and created by the next wave of filmmakers and screenwriters sure to be on the tips of tongues during future award seasons. A red carpet gala provides the opportunity to meet and connect with the filmmakers, casts, and crew, while enjoying cocktails and music in a lively atmosphere.

Selections on the November program include:

A Conversation about Cheating with My Time Traveling Future Self (Dir. Pornsak Pichetshote / USA ) - A Conversation follows a guy who travels urgently back in time to tell himself one thing: that his life will get better if he cheats on his girlfriend.

Pornsak Pichetshote serves as a Creative Director for DC Comics, where he got his start as a rising star editor for DC's mature readers imprint Vertigo, editing works by cult favorites Grant Morrison, Neil Gaiman, and Darren Aronofsky. Pichetshote's screenplay, "Widescreen, USA", reached "Project: Greenlight"'s Top 250, beating out over 7,000 other projects. A graduate from Tufts University and NYU, he's also written comics including the title "Flashpoint: Green Arrow Industries".
