Flamingo Blues Entertainment proudly presents a special pre-Oscar Concert of original music from The Hebrew Hillbilly - Fifty Shades of Oy Vey!, an original solo musical play written and performed by Memphis singer/songwriter Shelley Fisher tonight, February 21, 2015 at Tom Rolla's Gardenia Supper Cub at 9pm.
Growing up Jewish in the redneck South, Fisher says, "My first grade teacher called me a Hebrew Hillbilly. Everybody's life is filled with ups and downs, highs and lows and that explains: Fifty Shades of Oy Vey! Oy Vey is a Jewish expression that universally means OMG ! You're kidding Me!"
The show features 15 original Memphis inspired blues, rockn'roll and pop songs written by Shelley Fisher, Harold Payne and Ken Hirsch (musical director and keyboard accompanist).
The Hebrew Hillbilly - Fifty Shades of Oy Vey! is a stunning musical journey that celebrates diversity, dreams and determination to never give up. At the core of this hilarious and poignant play is finding purpose beyond The Hollywood Sign!
The show is filled with original songs and a comedic ride though Fisher's rock n'roller coaster life and is an event not to be missed. Many of the featured selections can be heard on Fisher's new CD Rockin' in Memphis! ( available at CD Baby and at RockininMemphis.com).
The February 21 evening will consist of a special pre-Oscar Concert of original songs from The Hebrew Hillbilly as well as hit songs by Ken Hirsch: "No One in the World", "I've Never Been to Me", "Two Less Lonely People and If I Could".
