The Open Fist Theatre Company presents the West Coast premiere of THE DEVIL WITH BOOBS, written by Nobel Prize-winner Dario Fo (Accidental Death of an Anarchist) with a translation by Jon Laskin, choreography by Diana Wyenn, original music by Alex Wright and direction by Tom Quaintance. THE DEVIL WITH BOOBS will preview on Saturday, March 21, Sunday March 22, and Thursday, March 26 at 8pm and will open on Friday, March 27 at 8pm and run through Saturday, May 16 at The NEW Open Fist Theatre, 6209 Santa Monica Blvd. (former home of The Actor's Gang) in Hollywood.

Written for his wife to perform, THE DEVIL WITH BOOBS finds Dario Fo at his very best! In THE DEVIL WITH BOOBS, Sub-Devil First Class Barlocco has an important mission: possess the crusading and chaste judge Alfonso de Tristano and turn him into a lecherous sex maniac. When Barlocco possesses the Judge's housekeeper instead, insanity and gender bending wackiness ensues. Dario Fo's THE DEVIL WITH BOOBS is equal parts savage political satire and wild lust filled romp!

ABOUT THE CREATIVE TEAM AND CAST

DARIO FO (Playwright) was born March 24, 1926 in Sangiano, Italy. In 1940, Mr. Fo moved to Milan to study architecture at the Brera Academy, but his studies were interrupted by World War II. After the war, he became involved in the "small theatre movement" (piccolo teatri), working backstage but then improvising on-stage monologues (perhaps inspired by his grandfather's storytelling ability). In 1951, he met Franca Rame, daughter of a theatrical family, and after three years of working together, they were married. The couple worked with various theatrical companies but in 1962 returned to Milan where they worked for RAI television - until they were banned. His play "Isabella, Three Ships and a Con Man" upset the Fascists; while "La Signora e Buttare" (1967) was against the Vietnam War. His popular "Mistero Buffo" (1969) was a series of monologues in which he used medieval dramatic techniques to address current topics. "Accidental Death of an Anarchist" (1970) and "Can't Pay, Won't Pay" (1974) established his name in America. In 1997, Dario Fo received the Nobel Prize for Literature - particularly for his ongoing work in small theatre. Fo continues to write controversial plays, castigating corrupt establishments, be they religious, secular or political.
