The Theatre @ Boston Court presents "The Children," a world premiere play written by Michael Elyanow and directed by Boston Court's Co-Artistic Director
Jessica Kubzansky. Opening night is Saturday, May 12, 2012 on the Main Stage at Boston Court Performing Arts Center, 70 North Mentor Avenue.
What if a character from "Medea" wrested the children away from their mother's murderous intent, accidentally transporting them to present-day Maine in the middle of a hurricane? Wild theatricality, myth, and puppetry combine to tell this eerily moving story of survival and healing.
Production staff for "The Children" includes Kubzansky, director,
Francois-Pierre Couture, set designer, Jaymi Smith, lighting designer,
John Zalewski and Veronika Vorel, co-sound designers, Susan Gratch, puppet designer, Tina Haatainen-Jones, costume designer, Heather Ho, props designer,
Julia Flores, casting director and Casey McGann, production stage manager.
Elyanow is the author of more than two dozen plays and screenplays. His work has been produced all across the US, from Washington, DC to Fullerton, CA. Michael has taught playwriting, screenwriting and TV writing at
Northwestern University, Emerson College & Hampshire College, and has directed playwriting workshops at The Guthrie Theater, About Face Youth Theatre and
Hartford Stage Company. His play, "The Idiot Box," had its world premiere with Open Fist Theatre Company in 2007.
