TELL ME ABOUT YOUR DADDY Hits the Hollywood Fringe Image

An irreverent analysis of "The Gay". And it's a comedy... I think. Set during a seminar at the peak of his career our host the 'Dr.', a self-proclaimed modern Freud, prescribes the need to label one another as an act of self-preservation. We are introduced to four 'specimens' who he methodically deconstructs and pits against one another until events rapidly spiral out of control. 'Tell Me About Your Daddy' opens June 3 as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival at Studio C - 6448 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, CA.

'Tell Me About Your Daddy' follows the stories of the sweet and naïve Tim the Twink, ex-mormon gogo dancer Jared the Jock, the gregarious drag queen Luscious, and the secretive and affluent Sugar Daddy Don as they struggle with the notion that 'you're worth only as much as what others think they can get from you'. Playful, thought provoking and unapologetically sassy!!! Plus some penis jokes. A lot of penis jokes.

ABOUT THE WRITER
This is Ty Pickett's second play to run in the Hollywood Fringe Festival! Graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and formerly director and creative developer at The Masquers Theater and the Chapel on Third. He has directed over a dozen shows ranging from Hamlet, and The Picture of Dorian Gray to Solo-performer Showcases and even a rock opera. It is his hope that 'Tell Me About Your Daddy' will open a dialogue on the systemic stereotypes which run rampant in the gay community and to leave the audience with the proactive realization that collectively we can mold our culture towards compassion.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Debra De Liso loves a good story. She has dramaturged and directed over 500 solo plays with her students at USC, AADA, plus pros like Hal Ackerman and Monica Palacios. Her productions have gone onto the Edinburgh Festival, United Solo Festival, and the New York Fringe Festival. She won a California Arts Council Grant -for three years - to develop plays with women in prison. And she won the L. A. Women's Theater Festival Rainbow Award for her work bringing theatre to multicultural, at-risk, and diverse communities. She also won the Best Solo Performance Director at the NoHo Theatre Festival. She's having a blast working again with the brilliant Ty Pickett who is such a good friend. For more info www.debradelisoartist.com
